Darth Malthael stepped out of the elevator and entered the private, hidden chamber he had set up within the mothership—a place for his research into The Dark Force.
All manner of terrifying things had been placed here...
A gloomy altar, with a frightening-looking book set before it; containers holding all sorts of strange biological tissues; a ball of lightning floating in midair; countless highly advanced instruments; and a black coffin. One look was enough to make the place seem exactly like a villain's lair.
But Darth Malthael had his reasons. That altar was simply a Sith altar, perfectly ordinary to begin with, and the book before it was merely the Book of Sith. However, whenever he meditated here, Death Force and those vengeful spirits inevitably eroded the surroundings, naturally turning it into what it was now.
As for those strange biological tissues, they were necessary for his various Immortality experiments. He needed to test the affinity that the Milky Way Galaxy's particularly unique species had for Essence Transfer, and the subjects he used were naturally all intelligent beings. What else could he do? It was not as though he could research how to use Essence Transfer to move his soul into a cow.
The floating ball of lightning, meanwhile, was the core of the Dark Reaper. According to Lucien Draay, he would eventually use this thing to save his life, but even now, he still had no idea how to use the artifact, and Lucien had not uttered a word about it. For now, he could only keep it here, wrapped in an electromagnetic field to prevent The Dark Force from leaking out, while searching for a way to rebuild the Dark Reaper.
