The Desperate Galactic Republic (Part 1)
Galactic Republic Capital, Coruscant.
Republic Supreme Strategic Command.
Master Windu strode into the massive building, which had only three floors above ground but more than fifty below, spanning Coruscant's first and second surface levels. He moved quickly, and the mechanical components installed in his abdomen and spine emitted soft, rhythmic whirs with every step.
This place, already incredibly busy on ordinary days, was now packed with people. At least a million personnel were carrying out their respective duties here, directing the fighting in every theater and on every planet across the Milky Way Galaxy. Its standard security level was the highest on the entire planet, even surpassing that of the Republic Senate building.
The reason it was called standard security was that although the Jedi Temple possessed no military defenses whatsoever, its actual defensive strength far exceeded any military force.
Not long after entering the command building, several senior generals hurried over, saluted Master Windu, and said urgently, "General Windu, Chancellor Palpatine is waiting in the conference room. Prime Minister Lama Su of Kamino is here as well."
At the mention of Palpatine's name, Master Windu frowned slightly, but he still nodded and walked inside.
When he arrived at the conference room, the enormous Milky Way Galaxy star map at its center was marked with countless flashing red lights. These were all regions where battles were currently raging.
It was plain to see that the red lights were densest in the Western Reaches, the Northern Territory, and the regions relatively close to the center of the galaxy. Of course, these east-west-north-south designations only applied to a flat star map. Directions could not truly be distinguished on this spherical hologram, so they were merely conventional terms.
