At the edge of the Semirres system, aboard the Spear-class Disaster Battlecruiser, the Tachyon Lance.
"Fifth firing complete! The energy transmission system has reached 92% of its design temperature limit! Shall we continue firing, Chief Engineer sir?" A soldier jogged over, saluted, and reported.
"No. That warship has definitely been destroyed; there's no need to keep firing. Begin a self-inspection immediately and report the operational status of the entire Tachyon Lance system." Standing at the center of the bridge was a tall, lean Salarian.
It was none other than Arroyo Barlow, Chief Engineer of the Fourth Civilization Research Department!
For the first live-combat test of the Tachyon Lance system, he had actually come to the scene in person as Chief Engineer. Tang Xiao had gone to Planet Kaal, and Chief of Staff Qi Jian and the others simply could not stop this stubborn Salarian. Later, they went to see Mordin Solus, the Salarians' current elder, but Mordin did not interfere at all. He merely said, "Let him go," before returning to his own work.
