Tatooine, Immigrants
Tatooine once had two major settlements: Mos Eisley City, controlled by Jabba of the Desilijic kajidic, and Mos Espa Port, controlled by Gaddula of the Besadi kajidic.
Later, during the all-out gang war between Jabba and Gaddula, Mos Espa Port was razed to the ground, leaving nothing but ruins. Many people still lived amid those ruins, mostly scavengers. After driving Jabba away, Gaddula had also used the place as a dumping ground.
So Mos Espa Port was now a massive mountain of garbage, surrounded by countless shacks inhabited by scavengers. It was a filthy, smoke-choked place where the people living inside had no order whatsoever. They could even kill over a piece of trash that looked usable.
Mos Eisley City, meanwhile, had become Tatooine's only major settlement, drawing everyone on the planet with even a little capability. But after Jabba's return, the Calamity Legion and Gaddula went their separate ways, and Mos Eisley City fell into division once more. Factions entrenched themselves there, and all manner of people mingled together.
They could not abandon Tatooine, because it was one of the most conveniently connected places in the entire Outer Rim Territories. There was no law at all, and people could do whatever they pleased. As the gateway to Hutt Space, smuggled goods from the Hutt ruling centers—Nal Hutta and its satellite Nal Hutta—also passed through Tatooine before being sold elsewhere in the Milky Way Galaxy. As long as such business existed, Tatooine would prosper forever in sin.
Tatooine's population had now surged from just over two hundred thousand to more than one million. And because of the planet's chaos, those who moved here were all vicious criminals.
