The Dorin system, where the planet was located, had two massive black holes nearby. However, the two black holes and a star did not form a Three-Body system. Instead, they remained independent of one another, each with its own stable orbit.
Whenever Dorin Planet orbited close to one of the black holes, part of its atmosphere would be drawn away by the black hole's gravity. Over time, Dorin Planet's atmosphere remained extremely thin and was filled with large amounts of harmful gases.
At the same time, a black hole's gravity could even warp light. As a result, Dorin Planet spent long stretches of its orbit without any sunlight. Yet despite the absence of light, radiation from the black holes became the energy source that sustained all life on the planet.
For the same reason, the hyperspace route around Dorin Planet was not navigable at all times due to the influence of the two black holes. Whenever the planet came under the pull of the black holes' gravity, the hyperspace route would become perilous and generally unusable.
