Mandalore was now in the midst of its second coup. After Death Watch gained the recognition of the Galactic Republic, it officially stepped into the spotlight. Led by Pre Vizsla, the former Governor of Concord Dawn who had suddenly emerged claiming to be Death Watch, and Bo-Katan Kryze, the sister of former Grand Duke of Mandalore Satine Kryze, they began their campaign to seize control of Mandalore.
However, Death Watch's image among the people of Mandalore was simply too terrible. In most people's minds, Death Watch was synonymous with terrorists. So although Death Watch was aggressive under the leadership of Pre Vizsla and Bo-Katan Kryze, their bid for power still faced enormous difficulties.
In the past, it would have been simple—kill all the opposition, and that would be that. But now, what Death Watch wanted was control of Mandalore, so they could not slaughter people as freely as before. After all, if they killed too many people, their already meager support would decline even further. Even if they gained control of the planet then, it would be pointless.
More importantly, the mastermind behind them would not agree to them doing that.
Bo-Katan Kryze had not taken part in the previous referendum incident in Sundari. Pre Vizsla had deliberately sent her to the Concordia satellite on a mission. It was only there that she learned everything that had happened in Sundari, and she believed her sister had gone mad.
That was why, after Prime Minister Almec took office, she returned to Mandalore and actively joined the coup.
