Master Windu's main fleet entered Planet Fandal. This was a highly significant deployment.
Before this, in order to maintain supplies for the Second Systems Army's main fleet under his command, he had split it into more than a dozen squadrons and stationed them throughout Neutral Alliance territory to facilitate the acquisition of supplies.
But even so, supplying this enormous force of more than 200 capital ships and 500 small and medium warships still required a vast quantity of materiel. Transporting those supplies also required a complete logistical transportation system.
Mace Windu did not have many transport ships. To meet the immense demand for supplies, he forcibly requisitioned freighters and civilian vessels from the Neutral Alliance for transport.
This action had left the Neutral Alliance seething with resentment.
If this had been on the Republic's side, there would naturally have been dedicated factories and designated funds to provide those supplies. But now, were they supposed to ask the Second Systems Army to pay? Was that even possible? Or rather, did they have any money?
That made it outright plunder. One could easily imagine the state the Second Systems Army was in now.
They had only their fleet and nothing else: no money, no supplies, and not many personnel. In truth, if they had been given a few more years to establish themselves, gradually develop production, suppress pirates, and use their fleet to seize resources from nearby star sectors, it might have become a viable path toward long-term growth.
However, that was ultimately just imagination. The brutal reality was that even if the entire Neutral Alliance devoted all its strength to the task, it still could not sustain this massive fleet of nearly 300 warships!
