The lasers fired by these turrets were nearly imperceptible on the spectrum, so from afar, it seemed that only the Republic fighters' laser beams and missiles surrounded the Geth warships. In reality, however, every warship was enveloped in a web of death!
The remaining Republic warships numbered only three Hunter Class Battlecruisers, four Aquitenes-class light cruisers, and a dozen or so smaller vessels. These ships could only struggle on around the spaceport, while the Geth warships had already grown to more than thirty. If the fighter formations had not still been fighting desperately, those warships would have long since been wiped out.
"Full speed ahead, all ships! Charge! Destroy every Geth warship!" ordered a general in his forties from the bridge of a Knight-class Star Destroyer serving as the flagship.
