Annaj Planet's Planetary Shield had activated!!
This was something no one on the Galactic Republic Expeditionary Force's side had foreseen!
Before launching their ground offensive, they had launched a full-scale assault on Annaj Planet, heavily damaging the Agonev-class star bases around the planet and forcing them to descend into synchronous orbit.
This deprived the star bases of their ability to protect the planet from the outer perimeter. They could only provide cover above the capital region, preventing the Republic fleet from bombing that area without restraint.
Moreover, after the war, raising the Agonev-class star bases back into high orbit would require the combined efforts of at least three engineering fleets and over a thousand engineering vessels.
