The Final Crushing Defeat
Admiral Gideon Tarkin finally chose to give up.
He understood perfectly well that the moment the Separatist fleet and the planet Yag'Dhul came charging at them together, his defeat had already been sealed.
Or rather, he had lost from the moment their astronomers miscalculated the evolutionary patterns of this Three-Body star system.
Admiral Gideon Tarkin had put considerable effort into trying to reorganize his fleet's formation, but every attempt failed. And in a fleet battle, formation was the most critical factor. If he could not maintain formation, then even if the Separatist fleet had only one-third of his forces, he would still be the one to lose.
The same held true even without considering boarding actions.
Ever since his fleet had been scattered by the planet Yag'Dhul, he had no chance of victory left.
Gideon Tarkin was decisive. He immediately ordered a retreat, directing the entire force back to the forward base established in an uninhabited star system before making further plans.
He was not a hotheaded fool like Cassio Tagge, wasting time thinking about a soldier's honor. All he considered was this: what would happen if his entire fleet were buried in the Yag'Dhul system?
He knew the Galactic Republic's current situation very well. It had just lost an entire expeditionary army in the Modell Sector, with conservative estimates putting the loss at over 300 capital ships. If that were followed by a crushing defeat in the Yag'Dhul system, it would mean that the Galactic Republic had lost nearly 500 capital ships in barely a month!
Even with the Galactic Republic's current industrial capacity, such losses would be crippling!
It meant that the Galactic Republic would be unable to replace those warships for at least the next half year. Multiple theaters across the Milky Way
