"The Ssi-ruuvi Imperium? Never heard of it." Shepard folded her arms and looked doubtfully at the unfamiliar symbols.
The scientist continued, "All right, the database is full of military-related material, so it isn't much help in understanding their civilization."
Then the scientist pulled up another string of unreadable text. "But this is what concerns me... Muggal-Muggal..."
"What?" Shepard repeated the extremely strange word in utter confusion. "Muggal-Muggal?"
"I don't know what it is either," the scientist said. "But this strange term keeps appearing in their communications. It seems to be some kind of infectious disease. Terms like epidemic prevention, quarantine, and contagion also appear alongside it... According to their communications, the main mission of those three cruisers was to stop the spread of Muggal-Muggal."
Shepard frowned. "I only took out a few of their robots, and now they need to stop the spread of some Muggal-Muggal thing?"
"There may be some connection between those things, but that's what we need to investigate further," the scientist said. "Also, I think the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium is extremely xenophobic. The most common command sequence we found in the mainframe of the cruiser we rammed was: detect and destroy. In other words, they are hostile toward any outsiders beyond their own civilization."
He Ru said grimly, "Looks like it's the second possibility. They're facing another threat... an infectious disease?"
Shepard stroked her chin. "Why do I feel like... their response is similar to how people dealt with the T-Virus?"
"What?" He Ru was startled.
"Don't you think so? This utterly unreasonable, no-communication approach of immediately resorting to extermination at the first sign of anything—isn't that exactly how many cities and nations in the records dealt with the T-Virus?" Shepard said. "I remember an incident in the database archives, the Raccoon City Incident.
