Among the Mandalorians, there was also a group that did not wish to give up their martial strength. Though they acknowledged that the Galactic Republic possessed overwhelming power and understood that the era of contending with the Republic had long passed, they still clung to the Mandalorian warrior way. They called themselves the True Mandalorians, or the orthodox Mandalorians.
The True Mandalorians hoped to continue demonstrating Mandalorian strength on the battlefields of mercenaries. It was a solution that benefited both sides, but in truth, it was also a concession to reality. Jango Fett had once been their leader.
Then, several decades ago, Death Watch suddenly rose to prominence.
Death Watch regarded the Darksaber as the sacred symbol of its leader. They committed every manner of atrocity through terrorist attacks, insisting that they would reclaim the glory of the Mandalorian Crusaders at any cost. They were fiercely opposed to the New Mandalorian regime and repeatedly carried out terrorist attacks, seeking to overthrow the New Mandalorian government and establish their own militaristic regime.
Thus, Death Watch was viewed as a terrorist organization, and its secret leader was Pre Vizsla, formerly the governor of Concord State under the New Mandalorian government.
The entanglements among these three Mandalorian factions were exceedingly complex, with open and covert struggles never ceasing. During the Galidrong Campaign, the Jedi Order, deceived by Pre Vizsla, launched a war against the True Mandalorians and carried out a massacre. Soon afterward, however, New Mandalorian Duchess Satine Kryze joined forces with various parties, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, and eliminated Death Watch.
Yet Pre Vizsla remained undiscovered. He was still the governor of Concord State, outwardly loyal to Satine Kryze and running Concord State with considerable success.
