The time returned to 16 BBY, Mandalore.
Under the rule of Mandalorian Duchess Bo-Katan Kryze, Mandalore now displayed a false prosperity. On the surface, the planet appeared orderly, but in reality, all its conflicts had merely been forcibly suppressed.
Death Watch possessed absolute military power. They had always been known for their fanatical militarism and extremism. Though their numbers had initially been small, every one of them was an extraordinarily vicious warrior. Tempered through countless battles, bloodthirsty by nature, and utterly ruthless, these terrifying executioners were simply no match for the Mandalorians who had lived through an age of peace.
If Satine Kryze had made any mistake, it might have been that she had carried everything on Mandalore upon her own shoulders. You could say she had spared Mandalore from destruction and saved its people, but you could also say that she had failed to fully mobilize the strength of the people.
When Pre Vizsla led Death Watch in its struggle for power against Mandalore Prime Minister Almec, it was common for a three-man Death Watch squad to chase the thousands of troops in Almec's hastily assembled defense force all over the place!
Death Watch slaughtered their way through that conflict, and their methods were cruel. After defeating the defense forces, they often used the mobility of their jetpacks to massacre the fleeing soldiers from above! They fired rockets, sprayed deadly flames from the sky with flamethrowers, and even used grappling hooks to seize fleeing soldiers, climb hundreds of meters into the air, and drop them straight down!
Some psychologically twisted Death Watch warriors even flew alongside those fleeing soldiers as they fell from the sky, admiring their terrified expressions and hysterical screams.
