2154, Escape from Mortis (Part 1)
The sense of time within Mortis was strange. There was indeed a distinction between day and night here. Day belonged to the Light Side of the Force, when all things revived and grass grew as birds sang; night belonged to the Dark Side Force, when all things withered and deathly stillness filled the air.
However, Tang Xiao's observations revealed that the alternation of day and night on Mortis followed no temporal pattern. The shifts between day and night depended more on whether the Light Side or the Dark Side held the advantage.
Combined with what he knew of the three Ones, this was actually a confrontation between the Son, who possessed Dark Side Force, and the Daughter, who possessed Light Side Force. In other words, their conflict was taking place every moment of every day.
"If I were the Father, watching these two bratty kids compete day after day for hundreds of thousands of years, I'd want to die too," Tang Xiao muttered sarcastically.
He was not worried about whether the Son and Daughter would come and release him, because judging from the original plot, it was almost inevitable.
Even if the plot had changed, these people's personalities, inclinations, and positions would not. Faced with similar circumstances, they would make similar choices.
Tang Xiao had been silently keeping time in his mind. About four days had passed. During those four days, Mortis had gone through seventeen cycles of day and night, though night held the greater advantage overall. The total duration of darkness was close to three days.
Outside this structure, lightning struck almost without pause, and it only seemed to be growing more violent. The Father had also vanished over the past few days. Who knew what he had gone off to do?
