Mortis Murder Case (Part 2)
Led by the Son, Tang Xiao arrived at a cave on Mortis.
The cave was bottomless, and an ominous green glow radiated from within. At the Son's gesture, Tang Xiao walked ahead, making his way down the winding spiral staircase.
Tang Xiao could clearly sense that within this cave, the Son was extremely agitated. He seemed deeply uncomfortable, suffering pain and harm with every step he took.
Yet the Son appeared not to care at all. He merely clasped his hands behind his back and followed Tang Xiao.
After descending for several hundred meters, they finally arrived at a sea of green fire. It was literally a sea of green fire, for the flames within it were green, yet Tang Xiao could not feel any heat from them.
Above the sea of fire floated a platform, upon which stood a trapezoidal altar. The altar was made up of several triangular structures, with a dazzling green flame dancing at its center.
The Son was clearly terrified of those flames. He shoved Tang Xiao and said impatiently, "Go! This is the place! Walk to the center of the altar, and you'll see the dagger."
"Me... walk over?" Tang Xiao pointed at the sea of green fire. To reach the platform, he had to cross those flames, but it was obvious that any attempt at taking a shortcut, such as jumping across, would bring utter disaster.
"These flames are ineffective against someone like you. They only harm us," the Son said.
"But if even you can't withstand them..." Tang Xiao still seemed hesitant.
"Enough nonsense! Get over there! I guarantee you'll be fine!" the Son said impatiently.
