The tremors around them grew more and more violent, until it seemed as though the entire temple was shaking, as if the heavens were collapsing. They lasted for about two minutes before finally fading away, and silence returned to the surroundings.
Yet the temple now seemed slightly different from the deathly still place it had been moments ago.
Silri retreated several steps and looked around. Everything still appeared the same as before—the cold stone, the eerie carbonite-frozen army... yet something was different now.
The temple now seemed to carry a trace of sinister, ghostly energy. Anyone who came here would shudder uncontrollably, even if they merely stood still.
Silri was no weakling, but even she felt her heart tremble in such an environment.
"The Immortal Army..." Shen-Jon walked over to the stele and examined its inscription. The text had been written in Sith, without the Night sisters' spellwork used to encrypt the star map, so reading it posed no obstacle to him.
The inscription was filled with lengthy hymns praising Sith Emperor Vitiate. Most of those verses were meaningless, nothing more than empty flattery.
The latter half briefly introduced the origins of this army in poetic form.
Darth Kapranis had been a master of Sith Alchemy. With Emperor Vitiate's support, he created this army through countless experiments. He selected the strongest one hundred thousand warriors from the Sith forces, then subjected them to prolonged, unimaginably brutal training and selection until only twenty thousand remained. Finally, he had those twenty thousand fight each other in pairs. The survivors became members of this army.
This army was Vitiate's Royal Guard—Imperial Guardsmen.
However, the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic had been in a ceasefire under the Treaty of Coruscant at the time, so this army had no opportunity to prove itself.
