Bolo ball, a sport similar to soccer but also somewhat like rugby, was extremely violent. While kicking the ball, players were encouraged to engage in physical collisions and even wore protective gear.
The sport was especially popular in the Outer Rim of the galaxy and the Mid Rim, and it also had quite a few fans in the Core Worlds. Alderaan, for example, was one of the strongest Bolo ball teams.
But when it came to the planet most fanatical about Bolo ball, it had to be Mandalore.
Like many planets in the Outer Rim Territories, the people of Mandalore could not afford to organize thrilling yet exorbitantly expensive events like the Bonta Night Speeder Race. Bolo ball, which could be played on any available field, became their favorite.
