The Malarian Alliance was an alliance established under the leadership of Ansion Planet.
Ansion Planet lay in the Northwest Territory of the galaxy, in a relatively remote part of the Mid Rim Territories. Its economy could not exactly be called developed, but it was still far better off than many planets in the Outer Rim Territories. Moreover, the hyperspace lanes throughout this region were relatively clear, so the planets maintained close ties with one another.
Thus, more than thirty years earlier, in 42 BBY, the Malarian Alliance had been formed with Ansion Planet at its head. Its core consisted of several major nonhuman species active in this region, and the alliance aimed to unite their strength so they could have a greater voice in the Galactic Republic's political arena.
Afterward, led once again by Ansion Planet, the Malarian Alliance signed the Kytom Common Military Treaty and established a military alliance of seven planets, including Kytom, Mondes, Lonnaw, Dorrin, Erofa, and Glom Tho.
From then on, the Malarian Alliance became a political and military organization within the Galactic Republic that had little presence, yet possessed genuine strength.
After the Clone Wars broke out, the Malarian Alliance initially declared neutrality. However, the region where it was located was assigned by the Galactic Republic to the jurisdiction of the Republic 7th Army.
At the time, after the joint fleet of the Fourth Group and the InterGalactic Banking Clan dealt a crushing defeat to the Galactic Republic fleet in the Battle of Janfatar, the Galactic Republic's control over this region steadily declined. At the same time, the Malarian Alliance refused to join the war, infuriating the Galactic Republic military.
