The voice had sounded directly inside his mind, yet it clearly allowed his brain to determine that it had come from behind him. Hearing that deep voice, Ganzo-Dosso spun around!
Yet he saw nothing.
When he turned back again, he was shocked to discover that the Sonic Blasters held by the Geonosian warriors around him had all snapped cleanly in two. A series of clattering sounds followed as the severed halves of the guns fell to the ground.
Ganzo-Dosso was horrified. He abruptly looked up at Nova, only to find that someone had appeared beside her at some unknown point—a member of an alien race dressed in simple armor, with a strip of cloth covering his mouth.
He knew this person. He had seen him when they first boarded the ship, and he knew that Nova called his race the "Protoss." But since some time ago, he had lost all perception of this Protoss.
It was not as though the man had disappeared. Rather, although he was standing right there, Ganzo-Dosso's mind had instinctively ignored him! He had no idea when this man had appeared behind him, when he had cut apart everyone's Blaster rifles, or when he had returned to stand behind Nova!
It was not that he had failed to see him. His subconscious had simply overlooked his existence entirely!
"You don't need to keep looking around. The Lenassa Tribe of the Protoss is the tribe best at concealing itself. If they want to hide, they can vanish right before your eyes without even needing invisibility," Nova said with a wave of her hand. "Just get used to them suddenly appearing." Note 1
Ganzo-Dosso lowered his head and slowly asked, "You killed Queen Karina just now."
"If you want the truth, then I'll tell you no," Nova said.
