Boom! Crackle, crackle~~~~
The sound of electrical sparks bursting echoed all around. Currents scorched blackened fissures into the metal bulkheads, and several sparks splashed onto Dennis Henk's face, jolting him awake from unconsciousness.
He suddenly opened his eyes and tried to struggle upright, only to discover that his left leg was pinned beneath a broken control console. The pain made him suck in a cold breath, sweat beading across his forehead. He cried out miserably and desperately shoved at the heavy metal wreckage with both hands.
"Boss! Gvar! Is anyone still alive?" Henk shouted, but the only response was the shriek of short-circuiting wires and the distant crash of the hull tearing apart.
He looked around and saw that a TIE Avenger fighter had crashed directly into the B-16 turret where he was stationed, smashing itself to pieces. Blue coolant leaked from the cockpit wreckage. He could still see the pilot in a black flight suit hanging in midair from a tangle of wires, swaying like a puppet on strings.
"What... what happened..." Henk shook his head.
Chaotic memories kept flashing through Dennis Henk's mind. All he remembered was that their Star Destroyer, The Punk, had originally been positioned on the left flank, happily firing on the enemy escort formation.
He had no idea what was happening elsewhere on the battlefield at the time. His own assignment had seemed fairly easy. Aside from those new-model escort ships being exceptionally nimble and difficult to hit, nothing much had happened.
But everything took a sharp turn for the worse after The Punk suddenly engaged a Hell-Angel Class Battlecruiser!
