Eight Imperial-class Star Destroyers rushed toward Thrawn's flagship formation with suicidal resolve, barely dodging or evading. Facing the enemy head-on, they unleashed all their firepower in a mad barrage against the Imperial fleet.
Dense firepower wove a net through space as the eight Star Destroyers pressed onward without hesitation, like moths flying into flame.
Demetrius Zaarin stood at the very front of the bridge, opened the communicator's public channel, and raised his head. "I am Demetrius Zaarin! Imperial Marshal! I am right here, Thrawn! I'm waiting for you to come take my head!"
A moment later, Thrawn's calm voice came through the communicator. "This is an extremely foolish decision, Zaarin. Are you truly unaware that you have been controlled?"
"It is my honor!" Zaarin shouted.
The suicidal charge of the eight Imperial-class Star Destroyers put Thrawn under immense pressure as well, forcing him to gather his other warships closer around his flagship.
The overwhelming firepower swiftly annihilated the Star Destroyers' shields. Their armor melted, peeled away, and was even penetrated under the unceasing bombardment. Thick smoke billowed from the warships as flames soared into the void. After one Star Destroyer's hull armor was breached, a turbolaser blast punched directly through its main reactor. A terrifying chain explosion followed, blasting the entire rear half of the Star Destroyer to pieces!
The other warships were likewise destroyed after fighting to the death. Not a single one surrendered. Even at the final moment, with their energy systems destroyed and their turrets blown away, the point-defense guns that still functioned continued firing relentlessly at Thrawn's ships.
