What am I actually trying to say? Everyone was discussing why the Star Wars IP no longer worked. From how I felt about the recent shows and movies I'd watched, I thought the most serious problem was that throughout the entire Star Wars IP, there was this constant "divine drama" feeling.
And that feeling had already reached an especially nauseating degree.
My memory wasn't great, so I'd take The Mandalorian and Grogu this time as an example. It was recent, so I still remembered some details. My evaluation of this movie... was that there was no evaluation. What could I evaluate? The plot? The characters? The scenes? There was nothing there, so what were you asking me to evaluate?
Grogu was really cute.
So wasn't this movie just Mando turning on god mode and completing missions? The pressure from the villains? None. Twists in the plot? None. Character building? None.
The only two things that made me nod a little were the part where Mando got poisoned, and even then my first reaction was actually—"Ah, so you can get hurt?"
Because even that injury was probably only there because they really couldn't write their way around it. A sea serpent that huge bit Mando's entire body into its mouth, and Mando's armor wasn't full-body armor. If it covered forty percent of his body, that was already pretty good.
And even then, it was only a scrape...
Then there was Grogu, who really was so cute.
The part where the protagonist was captured by bounty hunters was the part I thought looked the best. It had pressure and tension, but that was only a minor boss, after all.
Thinking back to some of the plot points in this show, where was the "divine drama" part? I won't even talk about those
