Although the Fourth Civilization's highly publicized operations in the Western War Zone had left the Republic 19th Army extremely nervous, with Governor Sulama requesting aid from the Galactic Republic almost three times a day, the Fourth Civilization was actually on the defensive here. This was a volcanic planet, where scorching lava erupted violently almost without pause. It had therefore been transformed into an energy-producing world.

Hundreds of massive power-generation facilities had been built. While their aboveground sections stood only forty meters tall, their underground structures reached depths of tens of thousands of meters, continuously extracting immense energy, converting it into electricity, packaging it, and storing it in a huge energy reserve on the planet.

Because most planets in the Core Worlds had already been thoroughly developed, those noble lords who had long since made fortunes naturally began paying attention to their homeworlds' ecological environments. Industries that caused environmental damage and pollution were gradually cleared out.

Thus, Sarapin Planet had naturally become one of the Core Worlds' primary energy suppliers.

Naturally, it was also heavily defended.

Aside from a permanently stationed defense force of one hundred thousand troops, Sarapin Planet had been fitted with two layers of Planetary Shield. Once activated, the shields could resist almost any attack. No spacecraft or warship could enter.

The Planetary Shield emitters were installed on a moon beside Sarapin, codenamed Satellite 426. It too was guarded by heavily deployed Galactic Republic forces.
