Battle of Christophsis (III)

The large-scale outbreak of fighting on Christophsis drew the attention of the entire Milky Way Galaxy, whether the Galactic Republic or the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

This planet, home to 35 billion people and vast quantities of rare resources, immediately became the focal point of contention.

Yet in truth, both sides fighting on this planet faced difficulties. Because Christophsis lay close to Hutt Space and not far from Geonosis and Tatooine, several key transit routes around the planet were under Hutt control.

Moreover, on the planet's principal hyperspace route—the Corellian Trade Route—the territories controlled by the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic interlocked like teeth. Both sides had deployed large numbers of Interdictors, making fleet passage exceedingly difficult. Along this hyperspace route, which had been divided into four sections, each side could only travel freely within its own sphere of control.

Upon learning that the battle for Christophsis had begun outside the plan, General Grievous, the Confederacy of Independent Systems' supreme military commander, personally intervened and demanded to know why Passel Argente had launched the campaign rashly without informing him.

Naturally, Passel Argente would not admit that it was driven by his own selfish motives. He merely brushed General Grievous off, saying that he had found an opportunity to turn the Kloiden, and that they needed to intervene before the Kloiden uprising was suppressed, or they would lose their chance.

Furthermore, to keep others from joining the battle, Passel Argente thumped his chest and assured General Grievous that the Corporate Alliance was fully capable of completing the campaign independently and thoroughly occupying Christophsis.
