Dense white flashes erupted as twenty Hunter Class Battlecruisers emerged from hyperspace. Before the warships could even stabilize, a fierce attack struck them. Dozens of particle beams lanced out, illuminating the dark void.

The Confederacy of Independent Systems fleet deployed along Christophsis's equatorial orbit opened fire the instant it detected the hyperspace jump. Thirty Hiigaran-class battlecruisers, one Deceiver-class destroyer, five Munificent-class communications frigates, and six Luukri-Hok-class battleships unleashed their full firepower against the Republic fleet.

The Hunter Class Battlecruisers did not hold back either. Their shields rose, and they immediately fired straight ahead. Every warship pushed its engines to full power and charged directly at the Confederacy fleet's defensive line.

When the distance between the two sides closed to ten light-seconds, the Hunter Class Battlecruisers deployed their bow hangar platforms. Vast swarms of fighters took off and descended upon the Confederacy's line like locusts.

These fighters were still primarily V-19 Torrent light fighters. Z-95 Headhunter fighters had largely begun to be phased out of active Republic Navy service, and the existing Z-95s were undergoing modernization refits.

The Republic fighters followed their usual tactics. They planned to use the V-19 fighters to gain sufficient air superiority first, then deploy Y-wing bombers to attack the enemy warships.

"Launch the Vulture fighters. Protect our warships... Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk..." General Trench issued his orders one word at a time aboard the Deceiver-class destroyer serving as his flagship.

All the hangar platforms aboard the Luukri-Hok-class battleships opened, releasing thousands of Vulture droid fighters in dense formations to meet the Republic fighter squadrons.

Countless lasers and missiles exploded throughout space. The dark starfield seemed to have suddenly gained a vast patch of stars, becoming even more dazzling.
