On the morning of August 11, 22BBY, Bespin Planet.

A squadron of twenty V-19 Torrent fighters escorted five Y-wing bombers at full speed toward Bespin Planet.

This enormous gas giant had a diameter of 118,000 kilometers, but its surrounding haze extended even farther. Including that portion, Bespin Planet's diameter could reach as much as 130,000 kilometers! Compared to it, Earth, with its 12,000-kilometer diameter, was like a marble placed beside a basketball.

Now, a terrifying battle was raging within that murky atmosphere.

Countless lasers and missiles streaked past like raindrops, some from the enemy and some from their own side. This fighter squadron was like swallows twisting and diving through a violent storm, a heart-stopping sight!

In fact, without looking at the instruments, there was not much to see around them. The battlefield was simply too vast, so vast that visual observation was completely useless.

Yet even so, the dense laser beams and incessant explosions still revealed the brutality of the battle.

The fighter squadron swept past a Gauss Fire Platform at high speed. The two 500mm heavy cannons atop the fifty-meter-tall small armed fire platform were firing continuously into the void, while two eight-tube missile launchers simultaneously unleashed sixteen missiles toward the Republic fleet behind them.

But these Republic fighters paid it no heed. Their target lay elsewhere.

The two point-defense laser cannons on the Gauss Fire Platform fired wildly at the squadron, but all the lasers were blocked by the fighters' shields. Then, from some unknown direction, a devastating Turbolaser blast struck the Gauss Fire Platform directly! A second shot followed, then a third. After enduring nearly ten Turbolaser strikes, the Gauss Fire Platform's shields finally collapsed, and its main structure and armor disintegrated under the barrage!

Amid the violent explosion, the fighter squadron flashed past.
