The Fall of the 19th Army (Part 2)

For the residents of Hoth Planet, this was destined to be a sleepless night.

Fierce flashes constantly erupted in the sky, as impossible to look at as the sun, nearly illuminating the entire heavens. Accompanying them was a pale blue curtain of light—the glow of the Planetary Shield blocking nuclear bombardment.

Fighters and spacecraft could occasionally be seen taking off to meet the attack, but not a single one returned.

The massive guns of the orbital defense system continuously fired into the sky, but no one knew whether those attacks had any effect. At the very least, the bombardment from space had never stopped.

The global radio station's signal suddenly cut out after broadcasting for less than ten minutes. Nearby residents saw large numbers of military police swiftly surround the station, but their commander was sniped by an unknown assailant. As they descended into chaos, a violent explosion greeted them.

Several of Hoth Planet's highest-security city-level prisons were taken one after another. Someone killed all the guards in a short time and opened the gates. As the headquarters of the 19th Army, the planet held countless vicious and dangerous criminals, all of whom fled.

Even more fatal was the fact that many of those hardened criminals were Mugali—and many were political prisoners!

Several centuries ago, the Mugali had risen up against Galactic Republic rule, only to be swiftly suppressed. That was also why so many Mugali had been forced to leave their homeland.

Even after large numbers of humans arrived, bringing enormous capital and rapidly developing the planet, while its political environment steadily drew closer to the Galactic Republic until it became one of the Republic's most securely controlled planets in the Outer Rim Territories, it still could not conceal the hostility many Mugali felt toward the Galactic Republic.

Of
