Battle of Lothal

Mid Rim, former territory of the Republic 19th Army, Lothal.

Thousands of years ago, this planet had belonged to the Sith Empire and served as one of its more remote weapons testing bases. It was later destroyed in war, though some industrial facilities remained behind.

In the years that followed, the planet's natives remained violent and expansionist by nature, forced to submit to the Galactic Republic only through military might.

The Lottans were a race with human genes. Their skin was somewhat rougher, and they had a custom of tattooing their arms, but otherwise they were no different from humans.

Yet even though the Lottans had little fondness for the Galactic Republic, they still put up fierce resistance when Fourth Civilization forces began landing on Lothal. The reason was strange: although they were remnants of the Sith Empire, the Lottans actually wished to follow the Hutts. They had always believed that the Hutt Empire would one day rise again and sweep across the entire Milky Way Galaxy.

A closer look revealed that many Lottans worked as smugglers and mercenaries. And across the entire Milky Way Galaxy's smuggling trade, if the Hutts claimed second place, no one would dare claim first.

They were highly martial and possessed a certain industrial foundation, so their combat power was formidable. They had even retained a fairly sizable Smuggler Fleet.

After news arrived that Hoth Planet had fallen to the Fourth Civilization, the Lottans sensed that things were going badly and sent their Smuggler Fleet out. Soon afterward, the Fourth Civilization fleet arrived. The Lottans refused to surrender, and fierce conflict erupted between both sides.

At the same time, the Lottan Smuggler Fleet began darting around the entire former 19th Army territory, waging guerrilla warfare and harassing the Fourth Civilization fleet's supply lines.
