The big man took several steps back before calming down a little. Pointing at the Dream Sisters, he said, "You two, get out."
"Ah, sister, sister, this uncle is so boring." Luna-Phantom pouted at the big man.
Luna-Dream opened her large, watery eyes and stared at the man for a while before asking, "Are you afraid of dreaming?"
The big man's face darkened. "You help me, I don't kill you. You cannot come in."
Depa Barris looked back at the Dream Sisters, then at the big man. She understood that his beast-like instincts, coupled with the sense of danger possessed by a Force-sensitive, had allowed him to see something. Perhaps he had sensed the hidden peculiarities of the sisters.
At that thought, Depa Barris looked at the Dream Sisters with pride and affection. Still smiling, she said, "In that case, you should go out first. I'll speak with this powerful warrior."
"Let's go, sister." Luna-Phantom strode out without a care.
Outside the door, a female Korunnai was already waiting. She said little, merely nodding before leading the sisters toward the camp arranged for their group.
Only after they had left did Depa Barris smile and say, "All right. I think we can talk now."
"Carl Vasto," the big man stated his name. "Where fleet?"
"The Republic fleet cannot reach this place. We are too deep within Separatist-controlled territory," Depa Barris answered.
"No fleet. Cannot win." Carl Vasto walked to the window and looked outside.
Feeling something herself, Depa Barris walked over and looked in the same direction—the direction from which they had come.
Several minutes later, a flash suddenly streaked across the sky, followed by a pillar of light plunging down from above and crashing into the ground.
