A day earlier, the Wealth World of Kato Neimoidia remained peaceful.

The Republic 2nd Legion's 7th Fleet, led by three 8,000-meter-long Commander-class Dreadnoughts and comprising more than a hundred warships, had sealed off the planet completely.

Kato Neimoidia had also made its preparations. Its powerful orbital defense systems were activated, as was its Planetary Shield—and it was an extraordinarily expensive one-way shield!

As everyone knew, ordinary shields interfered with weapon fire once activated, because their protection applied in both directions. A one-way shield could protect its user without hindering weapons fire, and warships equipped with such shields were often used as flagships. Yet on Kato Neimoidia, even the entire Planetary Shield was a one-way shield!

In the outer orbit, the Trade Federation's powerful fleet stood ready as well. Thirty Munificent-class communications frigates, five Deceiver-class destroyers, ten Luukri-Hok-class battleships, and large numbers of smaller warships formed a force that even the 7th Fleet dared not provoke lightly.

Even as the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems fought fiercely across the Outer Rim Territories and even the Mid Rim Territories, this Wealth World in the Core Worlds remained peaceful, despite the fleets assembled here surpassing those on most battlefields.

By now, the hundred thousand super-rich residents of Kato Neimoidia had long since evacuated. Those left behind on the planet were all troops assigned to defend their property. There were more than two million battle droids in total!

Although those super-rich individuals were no longer on the planet, they still used every possible channel and method to protect their wealth, keeping constant watch over the situation on Kato Neimoidia.

Trade Federation Governor Nute Gunray was naturally one of them.
