This was the closest landing zone to the capital, Fermos City, seized by the Fourth Civilization Army. Army Commander Major General Xiao Guanghua personally came to the battlefield, commanding the Fourth Civilization's 2nd Independent Armored Brigade and 7th Mechanized Infantry Division, totaling 15,000 troops, to launch an offensive under the cover of an equal number of droid forces.

In the skies, vast numbers of Vulture droid fighters, mixed with roughly one-third as many Wraith fighters, were engaged in fierce aerial combat against the Republic's fighter formations. The Republic's main aircraft here were Z-95 Headhunter fighters and V-19 Torrent fighters. They clearly held the numerical advantage, but the Wraith fighters' superb cloaking systems made them hesitant to act.
