"Highland Liberation Front. Not necessary." In a Korunnai village, Chief Carl Vasto shook his head at Depa Barris, who stood before him. "I am myself! To kill Balawai, no name needed."
"You may not need it, but the Korunnai scattered across these mountaintops do! They need an organization like this to give them hope!" Depa Barris said. "All we need is a name. In truth, the Highland Liberation Front will never really exist."
Carl Vasto finally nodded. "You kill Balawai. Strong. Listen to you. I agree."
"What should we do now?" an Akk Guard beside them asked.
"Those smugglers obtained winter combat gear from the Separatists. It seems they intend to begin their attacks now. I seized ten sets of equipment. We'll arm our finest warriors first and turn their own methods against them!" Depa Barris's gaze was icy, with even a hint of killing intent spilling forth.
The corners of Carl Vasto's mouth lifted slightly. "You different. Changed."
"I have always been myself. My convictions have never been firmer than they are now! Because I have seen certain things clearly." Depa Barris spoke in a low voice.
Carl Vasto thumped his chest twice. "Depa Barris! Comrade! Sister! Kin!"
"Comrade! Sister! Kin!" The other Akk Guards and villagers present also shouted in response.
"My apprentices are carrying out their operation in Pelek Baw City. I believe in them—they will fulfill their mission. So all we need to do is handle our own affairs... Strike first and wipe out every Balawai outpost around Pelek Baw City!" Depa Barris gritted her teeth and enunciated each word. "Leave no survivors!"
As she spoke those final words, the Force around her immediately changed, growing ever more violent... and dark!
