A medical transport docked with the Dreadnought-class heavy cruiser, which looked as though it might explode and break apart at any second. Since the hangar platform area was on fire and had already been covered in fire-suppressant gel sprayed by the engineering ships, the medical transport docked directly against a breach in the warship's hull.
Rescue personnel in fireproof suits flew out using jetpacks, then, assisted by drones, entered the smoke-filled compartments to rescue any crew members who could still be saved. The drones fitted breathing masks over the wounded, loaded them into the antigravity sealed stretchers mounted on their backs, and flew them out for emergency treatment aboard the medical transport.
At the same time, pulled by a Raloz-class Heavy Constructor, the Dreadnought-class heavy cruiser finally drifted slowly into the spaceport.
Once the warship had been secured, dozens of workers drove SCVs over and began basic repairs and stabilization work on the hull according to the earlier scan results.
The warship's hatches opened, and some charred, battered crew members who could still move stumbled out while supporting one another. They were immediately taken into the hospital by doctors and medical robots who had been standing by.
The medical transport also kept carrying more crew members out of the warship—or... bodies. Many of the corpses had been torn to pieces and could only be collected bit by bit.
After the flames on the warship had been extinguished, the Engineering Corps and technicians entered the relatively intact bridge and began examining the ship's internal data.
"According to the battle records... thirty-seven airborne Proton Torpedoes. The impact points were here, here... and... hmm, they were concentrated toward the aft starboard side. The point-defense guns in that direction must have been destroyed first," an engineer said as he used an Omni-tool to access
