The Fourth Civilization Army's three regiments, over 11,000 men in total, suffered devastating losses in this landing operation. Even with the transport ships conducting full-scale rescues, fewer than 3,000 were able to return.
Major General of the Army Ling Liang flew into a rage at the sight of such carnage. She stormed up to Sefrans-Tann, and the two had another fierce argument, nearly coming to blows again.
Afterward, Ling Liang wrote a detailed report to the Fourth Civilization Supreme Military Command. However, she did not request Sefrans-Tann's removal. She only demanded that Sefrans-Tann be disciplined for confining her to her quarters in violation of regulations and making decisions without authorization. She also reserved the right to appeal to the Supreme Military Court after the campaign ended.
Then Ling Liang returned to her post and continued working tirelessly for the campaign. However, anyone with eyes could see that Sefrans-Tann and Ling Liang, the principal and deputy commanders, had completely fallen out.
The Fourth Civilization fleet had now destroyed the turret networks established by the Republic 18th Army on four of Talastra Planet's moons. Realizing that the battle could no longer be salvaged, the Republic fleet withdrew from Talastra Planet's outer orbit.
On April 35, the last moon in Talastra Planet's outskirts equipped with a turret network was destroyed. The Fourth Civilization fleet had finally achieved victory in the first phase.
Next, the Kohl-class Battlecruisers of the Fourth Civilization fleet made use of local materials, collecting the wreckage of warships and fighters destroyed in the previous battle and smelting them into metal projectiles. They then fired them toward Eriadu with Hypermatter Railguns.
The flames of war temporarily subsided...
After the battle for Talastra Planet, both sides had come to recognize the other's strength.
Wilhuff Tarkin completely abandoned any thought of engaging the
