Ch. 2687Great Bird Spirit God? Or Admiral of the Navy?

Tang Xiao investigated the newly awakened Prisoner and learned that the Ayrou’s so-called Great Bird Spirit God was Skrand Sharp-Bick, the last survivor of a destroyed avian civilization. Skrand offered to serve Tang Xiao and provide the blueprints for his civilization’s most powerful warship, the Talon.

  • Tang Xiao returned to Dawn Star Planet, approved the Golden Plan’s second-phase battle plan, and ordered Qi Jian to summon Hari Seldon while he met the Ayrou delegation.
  • Tang Xiao questioned Baron Odar about the Glory mothership’s defenses and hibernation pods, then found the Ayrou delegates waiting beside a cloning pod.
  • Shira introduced the dying Ayrou male in the pod as a vessel for the Great Bird Spirit God, whose true body remained in the Glory mothership’s hibernation pod.
  • Tang Xiao spoke with the Great Bird Spirit God, who explained his desire to help the Ayrou and admitted he hoped to use their genetic similarities to rebuild his race.
  • The Great Bird Spirit God identified himself as Skrand Sharp-Bick of destroyed Skaravyd, offered his service and the Talon blueprints, and Tang Xiao recognized him as a legendary leader from Stellaris.

Ch. 2688A New Admiral, a New Mystery

Tang Xiao uncovered a disturbing mismatch in Skrand Sharpbeak’s memories, then appointed him a Kingdom of Dawn admiral and arranged for the Ayrou and Fourth Group to support his eventual release from the mothership. He left the Salarians with the Claw Titan Warship blueprints, while Skrand’s origins and the truth behind the mothership remained unresolved.

  • Tang Xiao learned that Skrand Sharpbeak remembered the Abominor and the Yuuzhan Vong, prompting him to question whether Skrand’s memories—and his own reality—were genuine.
  • Skrand told Tang Xiao he could not be released until a suitable body was prepared using technology associated with a god, and Tang Xiao suspected Kolman Lao’s alchemy might be required.
  • After reflecting on his doubts, Tang Xiao asked Skrand to help him conquer the galaxy, and Skrand agreed to serve him.
  • Tang Xiao appointed Skrand a Kingdom of Dawn admiral, tied the Ayrou’s future fortunes to his service, and arranged for the Fourth Group to build Skrand’s 35,000-meter Claw Titan Warship.
  • Tang Xiao gave the Claw Titan Warship blueprints to Arroyo Barlow on Kef Bir, and the Salarians were stunned by the design.

Ch. 2689Jobar Planet Purification Battle

Tang Xiao investigated the technology carried by Skrand Sharpbeak while Sefrans Tann’s fleet battled the Kilik Swarm near Jorib Planet. The Swarm’s hidden fleet attacked and reached Nogu Satellite, threatening Abathur.

  • Tang Xiao learned that the complete Talon blueprint was hidden in Skrand Sharpbeak’s soul and ordered Arroyo Barlow to research its advanced technologies.
  • Tang Xiao examined Korman Lao’s recorder and considered what the God of Destruction’s techniques could bring back to the galaxy.
  • Abathur established a Togot Swarm nest on Nogu Satellite, identified three concealed Kilik hives, and helped Sefrans Tann locate them.
  • Sefrans Tann ordered the fleet to bombard Eyyl Satellite, where Kilik units emerged and attacked the Kingdom of Dawn ships.
  • Sefrans Tann detected a Kilik fleet emerging from Jorib Planet’s atmosphere and ordered her ships to regroup and defend Nogu Satellite.
  • The infected fleet bypassed the Kingdom of Dawn ships and began dropping Kilik Creatures onto Nogu Satellite while Abathur remained there.

Ch. 2690Mysterious Insect Swarm

Sefrans Tann’s forces defeated an infected Kilik Swarm fleet and rescued Abathur on Nogu Satellite, but the appearance of Jedi Knights among the swarm and a new attack near Chiss territory revealed a wider threat. As Anita offered the Holy Advent Cult’s forces to help, Darth Vader arrived at Ukio and crushed the Rebel uprising with the 501st Legion.

  • Sefrans Tann sent Marines and reinforcements to Nogu Satellite as the Kilik Swarm’s fighters destroyed four Steadfast-class Cruisers with precise Proton Torpedo strikes.
  • The Kilik Swarm overwhelmed Abathur’s guards until Kingdom of Dawn tanks and Marines landed, turning the ground battle in their favor.
  • Sefrans Tann’s capital ships annihilated the infected fleet, and she ordered a sweep of the surrounding satellites while requesting nuclear warheads and Valkyrie-class Missile Frigates.
  • A report warned Sefrans Tann that an infected fleet threatened Ginar Planet, and Anita offered the Holy Advent Cult’s warships and Psionic Link to help locate the swarm.
  • Darth Vader brought Death Squadron to Ukio, led the 501st Legion into battle, and swiftly crushed the Rebel Alliance uprising.

Ch. 2691The Rebel Alliance's Crushing Defeat

Darth Vader launched a rapid campaign against the Rebel Alliance, crushing its forces on Ukio and Od Paldorlan within a week. The Empire recaptured both worlds and captured many senior Rebel officials, while the Kingdom of Dawn’s fleet remained safely away from the fighting.

  • Darth Vader led Imperial forces out from Denon Planet, leaving Lieutenant General Malcolm Granger’s fleet on Christophsis and giving General Ling time to await reinforcements at Fondor Planet.
  • Darth Vader blockaded Od Paldorlan and surrounded Ukio with one hundred Imperial-class Star Destroyers, while Gial Ackbar’s Deep Sea Fleet stayed away.
  • The Empire overwhelmed the Rebel defenses on Ukio, and the 501st Legion captured the planet’s capital after three days.
  • Darth Vader’s forces turned back to Od Paldorlan, where the Rebels attempted to resist with a small fleet and the planet’s substantial supplies.
  • Darth Vader deployed a Torpedo Sphere to destroy Od Paldorlan’s planetary shield, and Imperial forces captured the planet after five days.
  • Darth Vader entered Od Paldorlan’s administrative capital as the Imperial flag was raised, and the Empire captured many senior Rebel officials.

Ch. 2692The Empire's Storm

After the Rebel Alliance’s defeat, Darth Vader trapped Gial Ackbar’s Deep Sea Fleet while Isanne Isard launched a sweeping purge of suspected Imperial collaborators. The investigation ensnared Mon Mothma, placed Bail Organa under surveillance, and implicated Garm Bel Iblis.

  • Darth Vader sent 200 capital ships into the Thirteenth Army’s territory and sealed its routes, trapping Gial Ackbar’s Deep Sea Fleet.
  • Gial Ackbar warned the Rebel Alliance to withdraw, but Bail Organa and the Leader supported resisting the Empire.
  • Isanne Isard tortured captured rebels, ordered public executions, and investigated Imperial finances for suspected treason and rebel funding.
  • Isanne Isard traced a covert hyperspace communicator to an antique shop, but its owner had disappeared.
  • Isanne Isard investigated Mon Mothma over her ties to the shop and missing funds, and the Intelligence Bureau took her away.
  • Isanne Isard linked Bail Organa to the uprising, restricted his travel, and implicated Garm Bel Iblis, though direct evidence against Bail had not been found.

Ch. 2693The Darkest Hour

After K Fleet’s identification codes exposed the Rebel Alliance’s connection to Garm Bel Iblis, Isanne Isard summoned him, but he fled to Corellia. Isard arrested Mon Mothma on corruption and dereliction charges, and Bail Organa responded by leading senators in an impeachment and threatening a tax revolt.

  • Imperial Navy verification revealed that twelve K Fleet warships were at Ukio instead of Corellian shipyards, and Isanne Isard summoned Garm Bel Iblis for questioning.
  • Garm Bel Iblis ignored Isard’s summons and returned to Corellia.
  • Isanne Isard confronted Mon Mothma about her finances and explained how the Empire had twisted her political proposals to serve its own ends.
  • Isard accused Mon Mothma of involvement with the Rebel Alliance, had agents restrain her, and formally arrested her on charges of dereliction of duty and corruption.
  • Bail Organa gathered senators to impeach the Imperial Intelligence Bureau and threatened that their sectors would withhold taxes and withdraw investments.

Ch. 2694What Are the Powerful and Privileged?

The chapter explained how Core Worlds Noble Houses accumulated economic and political power over twenty-five thousand years, making them difficult for the Galactic Empire to challenge. Mon Mothma’s arrest threatened to provoke their long-awaited counterattack, with the Rebel Alliance serving as their instrument.

  • The chapter described how Core Worlds families used wealth, capital, and connections to control planets, industries, and political offices across the galaxy.
  • It explained that the Galactic Republic and later the Galactic Empire avoided directly confronting the Noble Houses because their combined influence could paralyze the galaxy.
  • Palpatine worked to weaken the Noble Houses by promoting new officials, building loyal political organizations, expanding the military, and establishing the Gouvernorat system.
  • Palpatine’s strategy ultimately aimed to use governors and military power to break the Noble Houses’ foundations, as the Death Star would have done in the original storyline.
  • Mon Mothma’s arrest set the Galactic Empire against the Noble Houses’ impending counterattack, while the Rebel Alliance served as their tool.

Ch. 2695The Emperor Strikes Back

Bail Organa’s efforts to secure Mon Mothma’s release failed as Palpatine defended her arrest and Isanne Isard continued her crackdown. A shuttlecraft then attacked the station holding Mon Mothma and the other senators, evading its defenses.

  • Bail Organa gathered more than a thousand senators to demand an investigation and the release of Mon Mothma and the other detained senators, but his protest failed.
  • Imperial Intelligence Bureau agents attacked Garm Bel Iblis near his residence, accidentally killed his daughter, and arrested him.
  • Palpatine addressed the Senate, defended the investigation into the destruction of the Thirteenth Imperial Army, and confirmed the arrest warrants for Mon Mothma, Garm Bel Iblis, and more than thirty other senators.
  • Bail Organa remained under surveillance, while Isanne Isard continued mass arrests and public executions in Imperial Center.
  • A Lambda-class shuttlecraft with an expired IFF code approached the station holding Mon Mothma and the other senators, then charged toward it as the station’s point-defense lasers missed.

Ch. 2696Unexpected Prison Break

Galen Malek broke Mon Mothma, Garm Bail Iblis, and other imprisoned senators out of an Imperial space station, revealing that Darth Vader had sent him to kill them before he turned against his orders. They escaped aboard a shuttlecraft, and Emperor Palpatine used the prison break to justify a massive purge across the Empire.

  • Galen Malek smashed through the station’s defenses, freed the prisoners, and told Mon Mothma and Garm Bail Iblis that he had been sent by Darth Vader to kill them but had chosen to rescue them instead.
  • Garm Bail Iblis and Mon Mothma agreed to escape with Galen Malek, who killed a Dark Jedi Knight and fought through Imperial troops and reinforcements.
  • Galen Malek led the senators back to the hangar, protected Mon Mothma and Iblis, and escaped aboard his shuttlecraft while many other senators were left behind and killed.
  • Galen Malek rammed an Imperial transport aircraft, evaded the surrounding warships, and escaped into hyperspace with Mon Mothma and Iblis.
  • Emperor Palpatine issued a galaxy-wide reward for the fugitives, blamed the prison break on traitors, and ordered a massive purge within the Empire.

Ch. 2697The Changing of Power

Isanne Isard recruited millions of abandoned Kaminoan clone troopers into the Imperial Homeland Defense Bureau, expanding the Empire’s crackdown and forming a power bloc with Ruffan Digorinus and Sate Pestage. Meanwhile, Galen Malek evaded Imperial pursuit and brought Mon Mothma and the others to Kashyyyk, where Mon refused to reveal their leader.

  • Isanne Isard proposed recalling retired Kaminoan clone troopers as Intelligence Bureau agents, and Palpatine approved the plan.
  • Isard recalled more than three million clone veterans and established the Imperial Homeland Defense Bureau, whose gray-coated troops became known as Graycoats.
  • Ruffan Digorinus took command of the new bureau as its director, while he, Isard, and Sate Pestage formed a powerful alliance.
  • Galen Malek piloted a Lambda-class shuttlecraft past Imperial pursuit and hid it near Kashyyyk.
  • Galen asked Mon Mothma and the others where they wanted to go next, and Mon said they would not take him to their leader.

Ch. 2698Star Killer

Galen-Malek brought Mon-Mothma and Garm-Bail-Iblis to Kashyyyk, where he revealed his past as Darth Vader’s assassin and his desire to save the Wookiees. He left to fight the Empire in his own way, while Mon-Mothma and Iblis prepared to flee and contact their allies.

  • Galen-Malek explained that Kashyyyk’s Imperial forces were disorganized and said his ship could remain unnoticed there for now.
  • Galen-Malek revealed that Darth Vader had killed his Jedi father and that his mother, Maris Malek, had died during a mission to rescue Wookiee slaves.
  • Galen-Malek confessed that he had served as the Imperial agent Star Killer, carrying out missions that involved killing many people.
  • Garm-Bail-Iblis condemned Galen-Malek for killing Rebel comrades, and Galen-Malek left them his ship before departing to save the Wookiees.
  • Garm-Bail-Iblis recognized Galen-Malek’s father as Master Kento Malek but refused to accept Galen-Malek as an ally.
  • Mon-Mothma and Garm-Bail-Iblis decided to leave Kashyyyk and find a safe place to contact their people.

Ch. 2699The Establishment of the Rebel Alliance (I)

Garm Bel Iblis and Mon Mothma arrived at Yavin 4 and discovered that the secretive Leader was Padmé Amidala, alive and directing the resistance. Padmé called for rebuilding the Republic while the group debated how to overcome their military weakness and protect rebellious planets.

  • Garm Bel Iblis and Mon Mothma received the Leader’s summons and traveled to Yavin 4.
  • Rebel Alliance soldiers searched their shuttle and escorted them to a concealed base beneath an abandoned temple.
  • Padmé Amidala revealed herself as the Leader, shocking Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis.
  • Padmé explained that she wanted to overthrow Palpatine and rebuild the Republic while correcting its past failures.
  • Garm Bel Iblis and Mon Mothma described the resistance’s scattered forces, poor supply routes, and fears that Imperial reprisals would devastate rebelling planets.

Ch. 2700The Founding of the Rebel Alliance (Part 2)

Padmé Amidala confronted divisions in the Rebel Alliance and set out a new strategy: protect civilians by operating from a remote base and fight the Galactic Empire as an independent military organization. She renamed the movement the Republic Restoration Alliance and proposed two major departments, leaving their formation and the rescue of General Ackbar ahead.

  • Jan Dodonna urged the Alliance to create a Military Committee and prioritize rescuing General Gial Ackbar and the Deep Sea Fleet, while Borsk Fey'lya argued for recruiting more allies.
  • Bail Organa, Mon Mothma, and Garm Bel Iblis challenged Fey'lya's proposal to approach Felucia and debated whether former Imperial and Separatist figures could be trusted.
  • Jan Dodonna left to prepare a rescue plan, and Padmé Amidala called the meeting to order and admitted that the Alliance's previous strategies had failed.
  • Padmé declared that the Alliance must overthrow the Galactic Empire by force, leave inhabited resistance planets, and establish a remote base where it could protect and recruit those seeking to resist.
  • Padmé renamed the movement the Republic Restoration Alliance and proposed establishing the Alliance Consultative Committee and the Alliance Military Committee.

Ch. 2701The Founding of the Rebel Alliance (Part 2)

Padmé Amidala reorganized the Rebel Alliance as the Republic Restoration Alliance and set out a strategy to undermine the Galactic Empire by coordinating resistance across the galaxy. As the new alliance began its work, General Gial Ackbar’s Deep Sea Fleet remained trapped and faced destruction by Darth Vader’s forces.

  • Padmé Amidala presented the Yavin Declaration, defining the Republic Restoration Alliance’s goal of rebuilding the Republic and its strategy for working with peripheral members against the Galactic Empire.
  • Padmé announced a secret founding agreement would be signed at a conference on Corellia one month later, and the Alliance established administrative, industrial, intelligence, and military organizations.
  • General Jan Dodonna sent small X-wing units to raid Darth Vader’s supply lines, and Alliance pilots destroyed Imperial escorts and two Imperial-class Star Destroyers in one attack.
  • Darth Vader ignored the difficult-to-catch X-wing fighters and concentrated his forces on finding General Gial Ackbar’s trapped Deep Sea Fleet.

Ch. 2702Escape of the Deep Sea Fleet

The Deep Sea Fleet was trapped beneath Iskalon, and General Gial Ackbar accepted Garrosh Tarkin’s plan to use himself as a hostage to secure the fleet’s escape. As Imperial forces attacked, the fleet announced that Garrosh was aboard its flagship and warned that his safety could not be guaranteed.

  • The Iskalon Alliance gave Gial Ackbar three hours to remove the Deep Sea Fleet or it would report the fleet to the Empire.
  • Gial Ackbar told his officers they would fight to the death, but Garrosh Tarkin proposed using himself as a hostage to negotiate with Darth Vader.
  • Garrosh explained that he was willing to return to Imperial custody, and Ackbar promised to rescue him one day.
  • The Deep Sea Fleet left Iskalon, but Imperial Interdictors slowed its hyperspace calculations as Darth Vader’s forces were alerted to its location.
  • Forty Imperial-class Star Destroyers arrived and attacked, so the Deep Sea Fleet announced that Garrosh Tarkin was aboard its flagship.

Ch. 2703Humiliation

Darth Vader rescued Garrosh Tarkin from the rebel fleet, allowing most of Gial Ackbar’s Deep Sea Fleet to escape before ordering the bombardment of Iskalon. Wilhuff Tarkin arrived at the Devastator and found his son on the bridge with Vader.

  • Wilhuff Tarkin asked Darth Vader to rescue his kidnapped son, and Vader diverted his fleet to Iskalon.
  • Darth Vader demanded Garrosh Tarkin’s release and allowed Gial Ackbar’s fleet to leave after Garrosh transferred to an Imperial frigate.
  • Imperial forces destroyed the frigate and attacked fleeing rebel ships, destroying eight cruisers while most of Ackbar’s fleet escaped.
  • Darth Vader ordered the bombardment of Iskalon and restrained Garrosh as he pleaded for the planet’s inhabitants.
  • Wilhuff Tarkin arrived at the Devastator and found Garrosh sprawled on the bridge while Darth Vader stood nearby.

Ch. 2704Sacrifice

Darth Vader killed Garrosh Tarkin despite Wilhuff Tarkin’s desperate offers, then accepted Tarkin’s suggestion to end the bombardment of Iskalon and turn survivors into hostages. As the Empire spun the massacre into propaganda, the Kingdom of Dawn moved its fleet to Eriadu, and Ling Liang’s forces took Naboo after its Queen surrendered.

  • Wilhuff Tarkin offered Darth Vader command of Death Star security and Imperial forces in exchange for sparing Garrosh, while framing the Iskalon retreat as a necessary effort to save civilians.
  • Darth Vader declared that the Empire would not tolerate traitors and strangled Garrosh Tarkin, then assured Wilhuff Tarkin that the Tarkin family would not be implicated.
  • Wilhuff Tarkin proposed ending Iskalon’s bombardment and keeping vulnerable survivors as hostages, and Darth Vader ordered the captain to carry it out.
  • The Galactic Empire blamed the Ujio uprising and the deaths on Iskalon on rebels and the Kingdom of Dawn, while using propaganda and internal crackdowns to bolster public morale.
  • The Kingdom of Dawn sent the Titan warship Chaos and its escort fleet to Eriadu, where Ling Liang took command and ordered an advance on Naboo.
  • The Queen of Naboo surrendered to Ling Liang’s forces, bringing Naboo into the Kingdom of Dawn, while Dormé maintained a government-in-exile and secretly funded the Rebel Alliance.

Ch. 2706Tagge Family Civil War Erupts

Silas Tagge’s rebellion against Orman Tagge escalated into a family civil war as Silas’s support dwindled and Orman gathered stronger forces. Cassio Tagge promised to bring in mercenaries to attack Orman’s fleet, but needed Silas to authorize their passage through the border routes.

  • Silas Tagge fled Tepasi and seized the fleet on Druckenwell with help from Cassio Tagge, while Orman Tagge gained Imperial support and entered Denon Planet.
  • Silas discovered that Urrrk Tagge was still advancing in the Imperial military and that other family factions would not support his rebellion.
  • Silas learned that Orman had acquired more than a dozen Hunter Class Battlecruisers, leaving Silas’s mostly light-escort fleet badly outmatched.
  • Cassio assured Silas that Orman’s battlecruisers had weaknesses and said he could bring mercenaries from Tatooine to attack Orman’s fleet from the rear.
  • Cassio told Silas he needed authorization codes to open the border routes so the mercenary fleet could pass without alerting Imperial outposts.

Ch. 2707Luring the Wolf into the House

Silas Tagge refused Cassio Tagge’s proposal to open the border hyperspace routes, while Orman Tagge chose to attack Druckenwell with General Dolla’s fleet. The battle began with Cassio’s forces under heavy pressure, and Cassio urged Silas to commit their main forces while keeping an ambush fleet in reserve.

  • Silas Tagge rejected Cassio Tagge’s plan to open the border routes because he feared pirates and enemy fleets would pour into Imperial space.
  • Orman Tagge grew convinced Silas intended to fight and ordered General Dolla to seize Druckenwell planet by force.
  • General Dolla organized more than 2,800 warships and led them from Milagro planet toward Druckenwell, where he prepared his fleet before attacking.
  • General Dolla’s Hunter Class Battlecruisers and fighter formations assaulted Cassio Tagge’s defenses, sinking two Generous-class frigates in under half an hour.
  • Silas urged Cassio to deploy the hidden ambush fleet, but Cassio refused and called for their main forces to advance until Orman moved the fighters protecting his Hunter Class vessels.
