Late at night.
"Ding! Ding!"
The phone rang suddenly, persistent and relentless, as if it wouldn't give up until it achieved its goal.
"Mmm..."
An arm reached out from under the covers with great difficulty, grabbed the phone, flipped it open, and pressed the answer button with precision.
"Give me a reason within ten seconds, or I guarantee you'll never get another part for your car from me again," the man's voice muffled by the blanket sounded a bit dull. Seeming to feel that such a threat lacked punch, he added, "And don't even think about me helping you with any modifications."
Although it didn't sound very threatening.
In reality, however, for anyone who knew him—anyone who had come to him to modify or repair a car—this was an absolutely powerful threat.
"It's me, Tang," a bald, burly man on the other end of the line grinned, flashing that iconic smile. "Hey, Zhou, I need your help."
"Hell, Tang, do you have any idea what time it is?" The man called Zhou struggled to sit up—it couldn't be helped; the two girls draped over him weren't heavy, but as a gentleman on the surface, he had to be considerate... at least by moving slowly and gently.
"I know, I know, but it's urgent," Dominic Toretto said, sitting on a table. "I need you to help me modify some cars."
"Then you must remember my rules," Zhou Yi finally managed to disentangle himself from the two girls who were clinging to him like octopuses. He let out a breath and shook his head. "I think you still remember them, right?"
"Of course, Zhou, how could I forget? Like that saying of yours, what was it... 'Good fences make good neighbors'?" Toretto used a clumsy, almost unintelligible accent to recite one of Zhou Yi's "creeds." "Don't worry, this time, it's definitely a big deal."
"How big?" Zhou Yi jumped off the bed, threw on a tank top, left the bedroom, and sat on the sofa in the villa's living room. "Have you finally decided to rob a bank?"
"No, of course not," Toretto said. "Banks are too low-end, and besides, this time we're robbing the rich to help the poor."
"Sounds pretty good," Zhou Yi poured himself a glass of crystal-clear, mellow, long-standing, and time-honored—plain water, and lay back on the sofa. "But this 'robbing the rich to help the poor'... the ones being robbed are the rich, but the ones being helped, I'm afraid that's you guys, right?"
"Hahahaha!" Toretto laughed on the other end, then lowered his voice. "Seriously, my sister is pregnant."
"What?" Zhou Yi widened his eyes. "Are you sure?"
"Of course, would I lie to you about something like this?" Toretto said.
"Damn it," Zhou Yi stood up. "I'm warning you, Tang, I never touched your sister!"
"What?" Toretto paused, then immediately reacted, flying into a rage. "Fuck, I know it wasn't you!"
"That's good," Zhou Yi sighed in relief and lay back down on the sofa. "Even though I decided to be your brother because I saw your sister back then, I'm still a man who keeps his word."
"Is that so? Didn't you say before that you befriended me because you thought I was a great driver?" Toretto mercilessly exposed the reason Zhou Yi changed almost every time.
"Fine, let's just say that was one of the reasons," Zhou Yi said nonchalantly. Anyway, his face was... handsome and peerless; he didn't need to worry about such minor slips. "So, is it that green kid, what's his name... Brian O'Conner?"
"Yeah," Toretto said. "So..."
"I get it. You guys want to settle down for good, and while you're at it, pull one last job to get some living expenses for the future?" Zhou Yi interrupted.
"Yes." Toretto nodded.
"Actually, if it's just money you need, you know I can..." Zhou Yi offered.
"Zhou, you know me," Toretto cut him off. "I haven't reached that point yet."
"Alright, when?" Zhou Yi shrugged, abandoning his plan. "And the location, your target."
"Rio," Toretto said. "Soon, we plan to rob Hernan Reyes, the biggest drug lord in Rio. One hundred million in cash!"
"That is a truly big haul," Zhou Yi shook his head, sighing. "You guys are planning to take down the local kingpin there..."
"Isn't that my usual style?" Toretto laughed.
"Yeah, that's true," Zhou Yi asked. "The best?"
"Of course, the best," Toretto said. "This time, money is no object!"
"Interesting, getting generous before the money is even in your hands," Zhou Yi swirled the glass in his hand with a standard wine-tasting technique, not caring at all that it only contained plain water. "However, you know I rarely take jobs that require me to leave. If I have to go out..."
"I know, I know," Toretto rubbed his bald head helplessly, clearly frustrated by one of Zhou Yi's "principles." "I've pulled in a helper this time. Her body and looks are absolutely top-tier, and as far as I know, she doesn't have a steady partner yet. Plus, the beaches of Rio—that's a great place."
"Perfect," Zhou Yi whistled. A vague image of someone he still remembered—mostly due to her long legs, slim waist, tall stature, and beauty—already appeared in his mind. "Give me the address. I'll be there in... hmm... two days with what you need. By the way, how many cars do you need?"
"Four? Alright, then wait for my good news!"
Hanging up the phone, Zhou Yi tossed the Nokia aside, downed the glass of water, lay back on the sofa, closed his eyes, and began to ponder.
"Finally..." Zhou Yi "looked" at the interface in his mind, sighing. "Is it finally time to open up a new world?"
On the interface in his mind, a full-body 3D projection of Zhou Yi's standard physique and handsome features was rotating, and above the projection was a title.
Auto Mechanic · Intermediate (990/1000)
Title Bonuses:
1. Physique 110 (As an auto mechanic, you need a strong body to lift cars for repairs! Don't ask me why you have to lift the car instead of using a jack!)
2. Intelligence 110 (As an auto mechanic, you need a good brain to know how to make a car reach the performance the client or you desire!)
3. Car Mastery (You can quickly grasp every condition of a car.)
4. Otherdimensional Wrench (As an auto mechanic, isn't it normal to carry a wrench with you? As for it appearing and disappearing at your will? What does that matter? Don't you see it's an Otherdimensional Wrench?)
5. Driving Skill · Intermediate (That's right, you read that correctly. Perhaps you're wondering why an auto mechanic would have driving skills? Haha, let me tell you why... because I'm not telling you!)
Zhou Yi ignored the slightly neurotic descriptions and focused on his projection. With a thought, another interface emerged from his projection.
Zhou Yi:
Number of job titles held: 1
Opportunities for World Creation: 0 (Earn one opportunity by successfully upgrading a job title to Advanced rank or higher)
Currently visited world: "Fast & Furious" series world
Physique: 191
Intelligence: 193
Magic: 100
"Hmm..." Zhou Yi stared at this interface in his mind. "I've spent a few years in this Fast & Furious world, and it's already reached the plot point of the fifth installment. Finally, I'll be able to open the next world soon..."
