After Raiden Mei and Kiana had changed clothes, the two of them slowly walked out of the room.

Raiden Mei's expression was still normal, but after meeting Gu Yu's gaze for a second, Kiana snorted and turned her head away.

"Alright, I was originally planning to make a trip somewhere with weapons and see if there was anything you could use to defend yourselves."

Looking at the countless Honkai Beasts and Meeles outside, Gu Yu glanced at Bronya before continuing.

"But now, considering some old hag might be squatting somewhere, ready to screw us over, I think it'd be better to keep things simple and brutal."

The Honkai Beasts, which had originally intended to attack the living humans they had spotted, immediately abandoned their initial targets when they saw the emerald-green figures rushing at them and began hunting and fighting them instead.

"Eh... Ehhhh?! You can do that?!"

Seeing the army of GataKiriBa Combo clones locked in battle with the Honkai Beasts, Kiana's eyes suddenly sparkled.

She had always loved having fun. If everyone had not been in danger earlier, Kiana might have already asked Gu Yu to lend her the belt so she could play around with it.

But now, watching more than forty clones slaughter their way through the Honkai Beast horde, the girl's playful side was thoroughly tempted out.

"Alright, calm down."

As Kiana stared at him, Gu Yu suddenly shuddered, feeling as though he were being watched by a pack of wolves.

"If there's anything you want, wait until we've escaped Changkong City. As for now..."

Feeling the three girls struggling incessantly in his arms, Gu Yu spoke with utter indifference.

"I'll listen to all your complaints properly afterward. Now, before those clones are all dead..."

Whenever I wrote, I always liked switching out to check the chapter comments, and then...

I saw someone raging about how my morals were twisted, how the protagonist had no knightly spirit, demanding that I remove the Kamen Rider tag, and even saying I disgusted him.

Let me tell you, my expression at the time was basically ??????

Over the past few years, I've seen many people who recently got into the fandom discussing four words on various platforms: knightly spirit.

At first, I thought, ah, Kamen Rider has become popular too, and there are more fans now. The efforts of those of us who got into it years ago hadn't been in vain.

But somehow, at some point, the term "knightly spirit" started to change in meaning.

What is a Kamen Rider?

Tsukasa Kadoya believed that anyone who fought for humanity's freedom was a Kamen Rider.

And what about the other Riders?

Some fought to protect, some for the future, some to save others, while some fought for the greater good.

These were all wonderful things. I believe that people who got into Kamen Rider naturally liked Riders who fought for such things.

But at some point, this term changed in meaning.

A group of people started shouting slogans about knightly spirit as they barged directly into other people's spaces.

What's wrong with you? The protagonist you wrote doesn't deserve to be called a Kamen Rider. You have no knightly spirit!

You're just a monster with Rider powers. You don't deserve to be called a Kamen Rider.

Granted, in some fanfics, certain protagonists do abuse their powers recklessly, and it's normal for people to get angry about that.

But... isn't that still no excuse for some fans to lash out at people indiscriminately?

Dropping "fucking" every other sentence, taking jokes made by fellow readers and hurling insults—was that what someone who understood knightly spirit was supposed to do?

Shouldn't knightly spirit mean disciplining yourself before judging others?

Let's use Gu Yu, the protagonist I wrote, as an example.

What had he done so far?

He confronted the Herrscher of Thunder—for survival.

He saved Mei—because she was innocent.

He fought Honkai Beasts while stopping the ones that ambushed Kiana and Mei—for his own safety, while also protecting the two girls.

Sure, once those two Herrschers went berserk, they could crush this bunch of Honkai Beasts with ease, but at least in this part of the story, the protagonist hadn't done anything wrong, right?

After escaping the scene, the protagonist let the two of them rest while he kept watch—putting others' rest before his own, that wasn't a problem, right? It shouldn't count as torturing the protagonist yet.

Bronya launched a surprise attack, so he knocked her out—he defeated an enemy, nothing more to say.

Cocolia attacked, so the protagonist pretended to coerce Cocolia. After failing, he made Cocolia believe the Conquest Gem was on him and drew the danger toward himself—looking at it that way, even if he didn't have knightly spirit, at least he hadn't dragged anyone else down with him.

He slaughtered the Titans and blew up Cocolia's helicopter—he defeated enemies, nothing more to say.

Up to this point, after analyzing it for so long... even if the protagonist didn't have knightly spirit, he was at least not someone with twisted morals, right?

Um, so why was I getting flamed...

I really didn't understand.

How could someone curse constantly while accusing a protagonist who had done nothing bad, and an author who had barely written any dark elements, of having twisted morals?

Didn't nine years of compulsory education teach us to be polite to others?

Then how did someone who didn't even read carefully and immediately cursed at fellow readers and the author have the nerve to say my morals were twisted?

I couldn't figure it out. I really couldn't.

This whole mess left me depressed for half the day.

This update is so short for the same reason. I'm honestly a little... sorry...

I'll sort out my feelings and continue this evening.
