After only a few seconds of thought, Wang Zhifan made his choice and opened the reward Treasure Chest that had been sitting before him for some time.
Inside were six items: a crudely crafted black-and-red thorny headband—the Rare Grade Bear Clan Mage Headband; a pair of black-and-gray fur gloves and a pair of light-gray fur bracers—the Fine Grade Fury Gauntlets and Berserk Bracers; and finally, an item he was fairly familiar with, a small pale-yellow scroll—the Fine Grade Warrior Class Skill Upgrade Scroll.
Wang Zhifan only examined the most valuable item, the Bear Clan Mage Headband, for a few moments before placing it in his Personal Space.
He immediately put the Berserk Bracers and Fury Gauntlets on his hands. As expected, they fit perfectly. They felt weightless while offering a degree of protection, and they looked clean and sharp without being flashy or tacky.
Seeing no enemies of any kind around him, Wang Zhifan felt an itch to test what it would be like to trigger the Berserk and Frenzy effects of these two pieces of equipment.
He first took the Wolf Slayer Blade from his Personal Space and swung it through the air several times, but felt nothing unusual. Confirming that empty swings could not trigger the effects, he slashed at a small shrub beside him.
Before the severed branches even hit the ground, he suddenly felt an indescribable energy surge through his body. His strength increased significantly, and he felt quicker and more agile as well. "It can actually be triggered!"
Wang Zhifan was somewhat surprised. He had assumed that cutting grass and trees would be no different from slashing at air and would not trigger any effects, but that was clearly not the case.
Now thoroughly intrigued, he lightly struck some stones and dirt on the ground, then used the Wolf Slayer Blade to split the surface of a nearby puddle. He found that all of these actions could trigger the effects of the Berserk Bracers and Fury Gauntlets!
When Wang Zhifan opened his personal panel with a thought, he found that its status had changed considerably:
Name: Wang Zhifan. Status: Normal, Berserk 3 (9.7 seconds remaining), Frenzy 3 (9.7 seconds remaining). Level: Lv2. Experience: 61/100. Class: Blade Warrior. Constitution: 18. Strength: 24. Agility: 17. Spirit: 16. Skill: Basic Saber Art Lv3. Equipped: Wolf Slayer Blade (Rare), Wolf Pelt Armor (Fine), Berserk Bracers (Fine), Fury Gauntlets (Fine), Iron Mountain Belt (Rare), Unyielding Ring (Fine), Chapter of Gloom (Rare). Personal Space: Handgun (Fine), Bear Clan Mage Headband (Rare).
As the panel showed, he had currently triggered three stacks of Berserk and three stacks of Frenzy. When he focused on the Berserk entry, a more detailed explanation appeared: "Attack and movement speed increased by 12%; physical damage increased by 21%." The Frenzy entry read, "Strength increased by 4 points." This increase was also reflected in his current attributes—his original base Strength of 20 had indeed risen to 24.
These two pieces of equipment are kind of ridiculous. If their bonuses are this easy to trigger, then the 12% attack and movement speed, 21% physical damage, and 4 points of Strength can practically be maintained throughout an entire battle. They're completely stronger than some Rare Grade equipment.
Wang Zhifan could only sigh inwardly at how the unknown great being that had created these reward items clearly had no understanding of stat balance. The Fine Grade Berserk Bracers alone were already absurdly powerful, but combined with the Fury Gauntlets, they were absurd on another level. Even though the bonuses vanished after ten seconds, they still outclassed the attributes of most Fine Grade equipment and could rival certain Rare Grade items.
Looks like I'll need to stack my BUFFs before attacking in future battles and try to take the target out in one wave.
After testing the immensely powerful Berserk Bracers and Fury Gauntlets, Wang Zhifan took out and used the only remaining pale-yellow scroll from the Treasure Chest. Unfortunately, he received no pleasant surprise this time either. The notification on his panel was exactly the same as the last time he had used this scroll.
You used the Warrior Class Skill Upgrade Scroll (Fine). Your class skill Basic Saber Art Lv3 failed to upgrade.
Wang Zhifan did not care much about that. He then activated the return function on his panel and quickly returned to the real world.
In a moment of mental haze, Wang Zhifan found himself standing in his Rental House. He had been lying on the bed when he entered the Dungeon, but he returned standing up, which showed that his posture upon returning was related to his state inside the Dungeon.
He walked to the bed and turned on the screen of the phone he had left there. It was only around nine in the morning, when most people were just starting work. As an unemployed young man, he had nothing much to do.
It'd be nice if I could run Dungeons several times a day... No, my mindset's getting too inflated. I can't ignore how dangerous Dungeons are!
Feeling somewhat bored, Wang Zhifan stored the equipment he did not need to keep on hand in his Personal Space. Then he sat down before the laptop on the table beside his bed and began browsing the internet.
The first thing he checked was the Player Forum, which he browsed for a while almost every day. After all, the forum had an official Xia Kingdom background, so its information was fairly useful to him.
Before long, a message posted by the Official Special Administration Bureau of Xia Kingdom caught his attention.
"Dear players, our bureau has recently discovered that a group of foreign player criminals has fled into major cities within our country, causing a number of adverse consequences. Our bureau is actively pursuing these foreign criminals. At the same time, we ask all players to remain vigilant toward unfamiliar foreigners who appear around them. If you discover anything suspicious, immediately report it by phone. The reporting number is..."
"Additionally, some of these foreign player criminals are highly dangerous and have committed serious crimes. Should any player encounter them by accident, you must immediately flee and report the incident. Capable high-level players may also kill them directly. Once verified, our bureau will provide the corresponding bounty reward... The currently known information on these dangerous individuals is as follows..."
The reason Wang Zhifan paid particular attention to this official notice was that Dongjiang City, where he currently lived, was unquestionably one of Xia Kingdom's major cities. It was not on the level of the top three cities, but it definitely ranked among the top ten.
Foreign player criminals... I wonder whether there are any in Dongjiang City. Either way, I need to make some preparations.
Being relatively cautious by nature, Wang Zhifan immediately took out the several pieces of equipment he had just placed into his Personal Space, intending to maintain some combat readiness even in his daily life.
My head still hurts a little today, so there'll only be one update. Normal updates will resume tomorrow.
