With his view partly blocked by the nearby zombies and shelves, Wang Zhifan could not see whether the monster hanging from the ceiling, its neck suddenly stretched long, had bitten something. But then he heard a shelf crash down ahead, followed by the frantic roars of a huge mass of zombies. The zombies, along with the monster hanging from the ceiling, swarmed out of the supermarket in pursuit. Within seconds, most of them had rushed beyond the supermarket entrance!
"Looks like that guy got away."
Since so many of the supermarket's monsters had charged outside instead of surrounding and attacking a target within, it was obvious that the Assassin player who had sneaked in for supplies and been spotted by the zombies had escaped.
Seeing this, Wang Zhifan rose from behind the pillar where he had been crouching and hiding. He quickly passed through the nearby shelves, went through the nearly empty passage leading to the supermarket's automatic anti-theft doors, then passed two rows of collapsed shelves and arrived at the inside of the supermarket entrance.
There, he noticed something on the supermarket floor that had not been there before: a few tiny, bright-red drops of blood. There were not many of them, but they clearly looked fresh and human.
"That Assassin was injured, though probably not badly. This blood was likely what drew the zombies into chasing him in a swarm."
After giving it some brief thought, Wang Zhifan walked out of the supermarket and quickly made his way down the street outside, preparing to seek his next target.
