Nature and Cosmology

The Netherworld Void is an unfathomable expanse beyond ordinary time and space. It exists separately from material things, cannot be broken down by Saintly perception, and can only be touched by igniting the Saint Dao 979.

• It is boundless, illusory, and able to “carry” the trajectories of Great Daos 1364.
• At sufficient Dao comprehension, it can be sensed everywhere—left, right, above, below, and within the operation of all things—while remaining independent of matter, thought, reality, yin, and yang 1364.
• Quasi-Saints can generally sense it through meditation, but the ability to truly enter or interfere with it is implied to distinguish Saints from Quasi-Saints 1364.
• Primordial Beginning consists of two layers: the visible material world and the hidden Netherworld Void layer perceptible through Saint Dao 1405.
• The Void contains countless Saint Dao imprints, with each powerful Dao occupying its own domain 979.

Dao Forest

Within the Netherworld Void, Saint Dao trajectories form a vast “Dao Forest.”

• Dao trajectories may resemble mountains, divine turtles, Mount Sumeru, abysses, sword peaks, or solitary lamps 1402.
• Ordinary Quasi-Saint trajectories remain obscured in its depths and cannot rise into its higher reaches 1402.
• Li Qingyun’s Mortal Dao manifests as a giant tree-like trajectory, initially claiming a portion of the Void after entering it 979.
• The Dao Forest’s center contains faint Chaos light capable of continuously perfecting a Great Dao, unlike the exhausted opportunity at Old Cliff Peak 1405.
• Establishing one’s Dao trajectory in this center grants a firm position within one’s own Netherworld Void 1405.

Manifestations

Saint Dao Netherworld Void

The Saint Dao aspect of the Netherworld Void is inhabited by Dao imprints and Saintly shadows.

• When Li Qingyun’s Mortal Dao first entered, more than a dozen Saintly phantoms imposed curses, suppression, and interference upon it, attempting to prevent the re-establishment of the Human Dao 979.
• A weak spiritual foundation would have caused his Dao trajectory to collapse under this pressure, resulting in his death 979.
• Dao trajectories can directly clash within the Void; Li Qingyun’s Great Dao Tree confronted the trajectories of the Vajra Giant Mountain and Jade Bottle Peak 1404.

Simulated Netherworld Void

The Hall of Nothingness contains a solidified, simulated Netherworld Void Black Night River created through the Extreme Ice Supreme Being’s ultimate intent 1445 1449.

• Participants advance through the simulated void using willpower, state of mind, and cultivation foundation 1449.
• The trial consumes immense strength; those unable to endure are expelled with decayed bodies 1446.
• Though dangerous, the simulation is substantially easier than crossing the true Netherworld Void 1450.
• Its rewards include the secret method and star chart required to break free from the First Sequence Great Universe Ring Chain 1449 1453.

Traversal

Conditions

A soul entering the Netherworld Void alone is vulnerable to annihilation if it leaves the scope of its Great Universe. True traversal requires the physical body to carry the soul across 1474.

• Becoming a Supreme Being or acquiring an Eternal Bone is considered necessary to withstand the Void for extended periods 1564.
• Netherworld Entry allows one’s soul to perceive the Great Nether Void and manifest a Saint’s Shadow along its Great Dao trajectory, but does not itself permit inter-universal travel 1474 1495.
• The boundary between a Great Universe and the Netherworld Void may be guarded by eternal runes that burn away untransformed mortal flesh 1564.

Eternal Universe Great Drift Method

The Eternal Universe Great Drift Method was left behind by the Extreme Ice Supreme Being as a means of crossing between Great Universes 1453.

• It uses the body as a raft and time as an oar, allowing a cultivator to drift through the Void between cosmic domains 1453.
• Its principles exceed Li Qingyun’s initial understanding; he could not directly employ it before attaining a true Saint position 1453.
• Li Qingyun stabilizes himself by driving opposing forces—yin and yang, creation and destruction—within his Great Dao Universe 1564.
• The method does not eliminate the Void’s dissolving force; even Eternal Secret Qi is gradually neutralized and consumed 1564.

Hazards

• Space and time are disordered, causing travelers to lose their normal sense of direction, duration, and distance 1564.
• An unknown dissolving force erodes protective energies, flesh, bones, and organs 1564.
• Without an inherited route or star map, a traveler can be drawn toward the Void’s distant attraction and dissolve before reaching a destination 1564.
• The Void is populated by colossal Netherworld Creatures, some comparable in size to several Great Universes 1584.
• Eternal Clan forces patrol numerous sequence ring chains, making travel increasingly difficult in more populated regions 1592.
