Chiba Ran transmigrated into the Land of Fire's ruling family as the unwanted illegitimate son of the Daimyo and a low-status maid. Upon his birth, he was bound to the Daimyo System and tasked with overcoming every obstacle to inherit the throne. Until that mission was completed, he possessed no extraordinary power and could not refine chakra. 1

At five years old, Ran publicly supported the confinement of his politically compromised mother and the exile of her clan. While presenting the decision as righteousness, he secretly took control of the clan's resources; his mother later died in confinement. 136
