Vash'tor Rallied His Spirits

Vash'tor activated Dragonwood Star's most basic function, attempting to tear apart time and space and cast these Imperial forces directly to the galaxy's frontier.

But just as the orange-red light seeping from Dragonwood Star enveloped the Imperial troops, the Dark Wardens following Leman Russ slightly raised their hooded heads.

The Dark Wardens uttered several incomprehensible words, and the orange-red light was instantly suppressed.

Watching this, the furnace-like eyes within Vash'tor's body flickered several times. He glanced at the child's corpse beside him.

The child's back was filled with tubes, all connected to the massive apparatus behind it.

It was the corpse once used by the Tuchukha Engine to communicate with the outside world. Now that the Tuchukha Engine, Heart of Plague, and Ouroboros had fused into Dragonwood Star, this corpse naturally became the medium through which Dragonwood Star communicated with Vash'tor.

The child's corpse looked toward the two Dark Wardens following Leman Russ.

"They are Ouroboros's jailers. Or rather, they are our jailers as well—the beings left behind by the Gospel Faction Old Ones to watch over us," the child's corpse said lightly.

A hum came from Vash'tor's body as he stared at the child's corpse.

The Three Sacred Artifacts of the Old Ones had always concealed certain things from him.

"Given our current situation, shouldn't we exchange information more honestly?" Vash'tor asked. "At the very least, tell me what those little robed creatures are, and exactly what happened among the Old Ones back then."

The child's corpse turned its head and smiled faintly. "I can share some information."

"You should know what happened then. A smaller portion of the Old Ones was driven mad by the endless War in Heaven."
