History
The Dao Sect is a Super Sect based in the Dao Domain, a mist-shrouded mountain range in the southwestern Eastern Xuan Region. Although it has fewer members than its peers, it is known for repeatedly producing exceptional geniuses. Its relationship with the Yuan Gate is the worst among the major sects. 238 285
More than a century before the Hundred Dynasties Great War, Wild Hall disciple Zhou Tong stormed the Yuan Gate alone, killing three Great Elders and numerous disciples. Ren Yuanzi intervened, and Zhou Tong was believed dead; he was later revealed to have been captured, tortured, and controlled by the Yuan Sect. 238 392
Wu Dao recruited Lin Changqiang, Lin Dong, Xiao Yan, and their companions after observing them in the Ancient Battlefield. Following Lin Changqiang’s victory in the Hundred Dynasties Great War, the Dao Sect exercised its champion’s right to choose disciples first and transported its recruits directly to the Dao Domain. 237 285
Lin Changqiang and Lin Dong’s comprehension of the Great Desolation Scripture restored Wild Hall’s lost inheritance. Their success allowed the scripture’s cultivation method to be distributed within the hall, reinvigorating its disciples and reputation. 324 328
The sect’s long-running hostility with the Yuan Gate escalated during the Sect Competition, where the Dao Sect annihilated the Yuan Gate’s participating force. Ying Xuanzi openly protected Lin Changqiang against Ren Yuanzi’s demand for punishment, and the later fall of the Yuan Gate left the Dao Sect as the strongest remaining major sect in the region. 380 386 389 392
Organization
Four Halls
| Hall | Supreme Scripture | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Heaven Hall | Heaven Emperor Scripture | The sect’s strongest hall 286 |
| Earth Hall | Earth Emperor Scripture | Ranked second among the four halls 286 |
| Hong Hall | Flood Scripture | One of the four disciple-training halls 286 |
| Wild Hall | Great Desolation Scripture | Historically the strongest hall, but later ranked last because its supreme scripture was exceptionally difficult to cultivate 286 |
The four halls primarily train disciples, while the sect’s elder departments manage its wider affairs. Full-Power Elders hold the highest rank beneath the Supreme Elder. 392
Wild Hall
Wild Hall’s defining inheritance is the Great Desolation Scripture. Its practitioner can turn the surrounding land barren and absorb its life force; once mastered, it is regarded as superior to the Earth Emperor and Flood Scriptures. 286
- Desolation Art — A required technique for Wild Hall elite disciples. It cultivates Wild Force rather than Yuan Power and begins with condensing a Desolation Seed from the Desolate Stone. 303
- Desolate Stone — Wild Hall’s source of Wild Force. Its energy is corrosive, and only Wild Hall disciples can cultivate the Desolation Art through it. 303
- Great Desolation Stele — The source of the Great Desolation Scripture. Its activation traditionally draws disciples from all four halls, as a successful comprehension can change the halls’ rankings. 322 324
Defenses and Resources
- Protective sect formation — Guards the Dao Sect’s entrance; reckless intruders can be reduced to ashes even at the Life Profound Stage. 286
- Heaven and Earth Primal Energy — Energy density inside the sect is more than ten times greater than outside its barrier, apparently gathered from across hundreds of thousands of miles. 286
- Dan Rivers — The sect possesses multiple rivers of Nirvana energy used for cultivation; four nearby Dan Rivers were connected through a Spirit Locking Array to nurture an Immortal Yuan Tree Seed. 320
- Martial Arts Hall — Contains numerous martial-art steles, including upper-grade Creation martial arts and lower-grade Spirit martial arts. 303
- Sect teleportation formation — Connects the Dao Sect to the Great Yan Dynasty and is used to relocate recruits from Hundred Dynasties Mountain. 285 290
Leadership and Notable Members
- Ying Xuanzi — Sect Master; protects Lin Changqiang and the people of the Great Yan Dynasty from external threats, and later refuses Ren Yuanzi’s demand to surrender him. 290 386
- Wu Dao — Vice Hall Master of Wild Hall and the sect’s recruiter at the Hundred Dynasties Great War; he takes particular interest in Lin Changqiang’s group. 237 286
- Chen Zhen — Wild Hall Master; welcomes new disciples by declaring Wild Hall their home. 296
- Qi Lei — Heaven Hall Master; leads the Dao Sect’s delegation during the Sect Competition. 352
- Zhou Tong — Former Wild Hall genius and Space Ancestral Talisman holder; later returns to the Dao Sect after surviving Yuan Sect captivity. 238 392
- Burning Heaven — Reincarnation Stage cultivator who joins the Dao Sect after aiding in the destruction of a Demonic General. 376
- Ji Li — Three-Headed Demonic Flood Dragon who joins to seek greater advancement within a powerful sect. 399
Relationships
- Yuan Gate — Principal enemy; the sects have a long history of conflict stemming from Zhou Tong’s assault on the Yuan Gate and its treatment of Dao Sect disciples 238 351 386.
- Lin Changqiang — Wild Hall’s Senior Brother and Hundred Dynasties Great War champion; his arrival restores the Great Desolation Scripture and helps elevate the Dao Sect’s standing 285 328 392.
- Lin Dong — Wild Hall disciple who comprehends the Great Desolation Scripture alongside Lin Changqiang and assists in reviving the hall’s inheritance 326 328.
- Qing Zhi — Azure Dragon King who destroys the Yuan Gate’s three Sect Masters and warns the Seven Super Sects against colluding with the Demonic Tribulation 389.
- Burning Heaven — Former independent Reincarnation Stage cultivator who joins the Dao Sect after fighting beside the Great Desolation Stele against a Demonic General 376.
- Other Eastern Xuan Region sects — After the Dao Sect’s rise, sects including the Nine Heavens Taiqing Palace, Divine Sect, and Myriad Puppet Gate attend its celebration and seek cooperation 515.
