Two people had survived in the library: Dr. Mikasa and Mei, Dr. Clover's female assistant. Both had been engulfed by the rolling flames and had fainted amid the sea of fire. Fujitora acted directly, activating Gravity Domain and extinguishing the flames at once.
In the original story, Dr. Clover had been killed by a CP0 member, but because of the butterfly effect, he had instead been burned to death in the library fire. The two people who had been rescued were severely wounded all over. Fujitora summoned several doctors to treat them before bringing them aboard the ship. Robin, sitting on Kuma's shoulder, saw that her mother had died. Her eyes reddened, and she cried in grief.
The Fish-Man race warriors were already salvaging the bodies of ordinary people from the waters around Ohara Island—the civilians who had jumped into the sea and been killed by the shockwaves. They planned to bury all those bodies on Ohara Island. This was far better than in the original story, where those civilians had died without even intact corpses left behind. Now, at least, they would have graves. Some Revolutionary Army soldiers remained on the island, digging pits to give these poor people proper burials.
After Saul thawed out, he sat on the ground with a helpless expression and wept bitterly. "Ohara has been destroyed. Why? Why didn't those people even spare the elderly and children?" Seeing Saul's grief, Rikiji said helplessly, "We came to Ohara Island from too far away. I'm truly sorry we couldn't save the civilians on Ohara Island, or the scientists, researchers, and scholars."
