Ch. 161Journey to Flower Country

Julian and Herbert attended a banquet in Flower Country, where Julian met the Flower Emperor’s children and bought two Devil Fruits. After paying for the fruits, he left the gold at the dock and considered seeking more Devil Fruits from Flower Country’s great families.

  • The Flower Emperor introduced Julian and Herbert to Princess Wang Yu Yan and Crown Prince Wang Chao, and they began the banquet together.
  • Julian asked for Flower Country chefs, then objected to Chef Liu Doujiang’s name and persuaded Wang Chao to have him thrown out.
  • Julian paid five billion for a Cat-Cat Fruit and a Spear-Spear Fruit, and the Flower Emperor sent Wang Chao and the Fifth Treasure Navy to accompany him.
  • Julian unloaded gold worth one hundred and ten billion at the dock, where Wang Chao’s soldiers carried it to the national treasury.
  • Julian inspected the two Devil Fruits, found them unimpressive, and decided to seek other fruits from Flower Country’s great families.

Ch. 162High-Priced Purchase of Devil Fruits

Julian organized a campaign to buy Devil Fruits in the Flower Country for two billion each, while the Flower Emperor discussed the Flame Dragon Kingdom’s motives and the danger of opposing the Celestial Dragon Government. The chapter ended with the Flower Emperor learning that Princess Yu Yan had stolen every Devil Fruit in the treasury and ordering Wang Chao to retrieve her.

  • Julian ordered his officers to recruit storytellers and vendors to publicize his offer of two billion for each Devil Fruit.
  • The crew gathered more than eight hundred promoters, who spread the offer through the city, prompting several great families to bring Devil Fruits out for sale.
  • The Flower Emperor and Wang Chao discussed Julian’s strength, the Devil Fruit purchases, and the need for the Flower Country to stay cautious and balanced.
  • The Flower Emperor explained that the country had enough gold to avoid paying Heavenly Gold for decades and urged Wang Chao to protect the country’s future.
  • Guards reported that Princess Yu Yan had stolen all the Devil Fruits from the treasury, so the Flower Emperor sent Wang Chao to bring her back.

Ch. 163Harvest Galore

Julian bought Devil Fruits from several families and martial artists at the Flower Country docks, paying out enormous heaps of gold while recruiting people for his kingdom. Wang Yuyan arrived with valuable fruits of her own, and Julian escorted her away after promising hospitality and support for her family.

  • Julian paid the Chen Family four billion Berries for the Flour-Flour Fruit and Hair-Hair Fruit, then bought the Cai Family's Lizard Fruit from Lao Cai and invited him to join his kingdom.
  • The Long Family sold Julian four Devil Fruits, including an Ancient Zoan Mantis Fruit and the Rainbow Fruit, and the Lightning Martial Arts School's Master Tan declined to leave his homeland while supporting disciples who wanted to go.
  • Julian bought three Devil Fruits from Master Tan's group and the Bat-Bat Fruit, Ancient Zoan, Black-backed Vampire Bat Form, from two brothers.
  • Wang Yuyan arrived and offered five Devil Fruits, including a Mythical Zoan Seven-Colored Butterfly Fruit and Suanni Fruit; Julian urged her to keep the rare fruits and revealed that he would give her five billion worth of gold.
  • After learning Wang Yuyan's brother had eaten the Mythical Zoan Dragon Turtle Fruit, Julian bought four more Devil Fruits from the Shangguan Family and promised Wang Yuyan help if her family ever needed it.
  • Julian left George and Pekki to keep buying Devil Fruits and personally escorted Wang Yuyan, who clarified that she wanted to travel rather than move to his kingdom.

Ch. 164Preparing to Leave Flower Country

Julian collected payment for Yu Yan’s Devil Fruit sales, visited Flower Country’s Buddhist temple, and copied the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill’s body-tempering method. He prepared to leave Flower Country that night with new Devil Fruits and plans to perfect his Haki before challenging the Four Emperors.

  • Julian paid the Flower Emperor one hundred billion in gold, and Yu Yan ate the Seven-Colored Meteor Butterfly Devil Fruit her father had saved for her.
  • Julian visited Master Yichan’s temple, found the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill, and copied its body-tempering method before leaving for the Quanzhen School.
  • Julian returned to the docks, inspected another Devil Fruit brought in by George, and ordered the crew to gather at nine that night to set sail.
  • Julian examined four Devil Fruits from the Shangguan family, including an Ancient Zoan Giant-Toothed Prehistoric Boar Form, and thought about Pekki’s Flame powers.
  • Julian decided to cultivate for several years, perfect the Three Types of Haki, and then challenge the Four Emperors for territory.

Ch. 165Return Voyage to East Blue

Julian left the Flower Country for the East Blue, where he planned to seek the Beast King's Horn and two Devil Fruits. Aboard the Flame Dragon, he learned Menas might be pregnant and catalogued the many Mythical Zoan fruits he had collected.

  • Julian said farewell to the Flower Emperor and flew away as she summoned Chinjao to answer for his actions.
  • The Flower Emperor scolded Chinjao for losing the Flower Country's stored gold and ordered him to stay home, train Cai Xukun, and bring him into the Eight Treasures Navy.
  • Julian ordered the Flame Dragon to sail for the East Blue, thinking about the Beast King's Horn and the Flame-Flame and Smooth-Smooth Fruits.
  • Menas told Julian she felt sleepy and nauseous, and Julian suspected she was pregnant; Menas said the child would be safe even if she transformed into her dwarf form.
  • Julian put his Devil Fruits into a safe and used the Celestial Dragons' encyclopedia to identify and rank their abilities, including the Kirin, Qiongqi, Suanni, and Bai Ze forms.

Ch. 166Kirin Fruit

Julian inventoried and organized his collection of more than forty Devil Fruits, reserving the fifteen Mythical Zoans for his sons and especially the Kirin Fruit for Noah. He left the story with his prized collection secured and his artificial flying-type fruits ready for Herbert to distribute.

  • Julian admired the Kirin Fruit and decided to save it for Noah, hoping Noah would awaken it and surpass the Azure Dragon Fruit.
  • Julian assessed his Calamity-level Logia and Paramecia fruits, Ancient Zoans, and numerous ordinary Paramecia fruits, judging their abilities and usefulness.
  • Julian sorted the Devil Fruits into labeled safe shelves by category and strength, placing the Soy Milk Fruit and Jump-Jump Fruit at the bottom.
  • Julian counted more than forty Devil Fruits and planned to give his artificial flying-type fruits to Herbert for distribution.
  • Julian reflected that he had worked hard and compromised to collect fifteen Mythical Zoan fruits for his sons, then hoped they would not grow up unfilial.

Ch. 167The Flame Dragon Arrives in the East Blue

Julian brought the Flame Dragon over Reverse Mountain into the East Blue and continued training while sailing toward Beast Island. Meanwhile, Dragon began evacuating Patrila Island as the World Government ordered Sakazuki to massacre its pregnant women, and Garp resolved to intervene.

  • Julian transformed into a hundred-meter Flame Dragon, carried the ship over Reverse Mountain, and ordered the crew to sail for Beast Island.
  • Herbert powered the Flame Dragon with a storm while Julian and the crew trained during the voyage; Herbert had earlier defeated two pirate crews and spared their surviving ordinary members.
  • Dragon led the Freedom Army toward Patrila Island and ordered his forces to evacuate civilians and attack any CP0 agents they found.
  • The Gorosei ordered every pregnant woman on Patrila Island executed and young, able-bodied men captured as slaves, assigning Sakazuki to lead the operation.
  • After hearing the order, Garp decided he could not let the women die and left to go home, while Sakazuki prepared to sail through the Holy Land to Patrila Island.

Ch. 168Operation Great Evacuation

Ginny and the Freedom Army organized Patrila Island’s evacuation after warning its people that the World Government planned a massacre. At the South Blue Naval Branch, Major General Gilmi secretly gave Colonel Lucas and the island’s Marine families one day to escape before Sakazuki’s forces arrived.

  • Ginny and Town Mayor Enzuo Ou persuaded Patrila Island’s residents to evacuate, despite some hoping they could appease the World Government by handing over Lu Jiu.
  • Ginny reassured Lu Jiu, who was four months pregnant, that the Freedom Army would protect the islanders.
  • Major General Gilmi told Colonel Lucas that Marine Headquarters had ordered a purge and gave him one day to save as many islanders as possible.
  • Lucas led more than two hundred Marines from Patrila Island onto a warship to hurry home and evacuate their families.
  • Gilmi asked Sengoku to stop or limit the purge, and Sengoku said the order could not be defied but allowed Gilmi to evacuate his family.

Ch. 169Relocating Patrila Island

Dragon and the Freedom Army began evacuating Patrila Island’s more than six hundred thousand residents before the World Government’s warships arrived. After Dragon defeated the CP0 agents blocking the evacuation, he resolved to overthrow the Celestial Dragon Government and build a nation founded on equality and freedom.

  • Dragon contacted Ginny and ordered the evacuation to begin at the eastern docks while Talilun’s group started evacuating from the north.
  • Ginny, Mayor Enzuo Ou, and Markus organized the civilians, but CP0 agents blocked the roads to the docks and threatened to execute anyone who continued.
  • Dragon arrived in a storm and killed the CP0 agents with Storm Invasion, then urged the civilians to board the ships before the warships arrived.
  • Kuma, Ivan, Gatlin, Reg, and the other Freedom Army members helped evacuate the elderly, children, pregnant women, and other civilians, including Lu Jiu, onto more than four hundred ships.
  • As the evacuation proceeded in orderly lines, Dragon condemned the World Government’s oppression and vowed to create a nation of equality and freedom.
  • Dragon’s Conqueror’s Haki grew stronger as he realized that he was not fighting alone and thought that Joy Boy referred to an idea rather than one person.

Ch. 170Transfer Complete

Dragon led the Freedom Army’s evacuation of Patrila Island while Akainu set out to intercept them. Julian’s crew neared Beast Island, where he appointed a newly recruited chef as Mad Demon Kid and prepared to go ashore with Herbert.

  • Dragon’s fleet departed Patrila Island, and he discussed supplies and the dangers of crossing the Calm Belt with Ivan, Kuma, Ginny, and Talilun.
  • Ginny offered to guide the fleet, while Talilun suggested sending fast ships to gather supplies and scout for enemies.
  • Akainu received word that the Freedom Army had evacuated Patrila Island and ordered his seven warships to intercept and destroy them.
  • Julian met Ku Chazi, learned about his past names and Wano Country origins, and renamed him Mad Demon Kid, assigning him to study insults instead of cooking.
  • After seven days at sea, Julian’s crew reached Beast Island, where an underwater volcano erupted and mist surrounded the island.
  • Julian transformed into a Flame Dragon and flew toward Beast Island, followed by Herbert and the other Division Captains.

Ch. 171Obtaining the Beast King's Horn

Julian took two of the Kirin Lion’s horns and gave the Beast King Gene Potions in hopes of helping him evolve. He then helped Herbert gain the Beast King’s Blessing and the powers of an Artificial Dragon Fruit, leaving Herbert transformed into a pink Azure Dragon.

  • Julian arrived at Crown Beast Island, summoned the Kirin Lion, and subdued him when he refused to give up a horn.
  • Julian cut off two of the Kirin Lion’s horns and offered him Gene Potions to help him break through to the Super Beast King level.
  • The Kirin Lion accepted the potions, thanked Julian through Elder Parrot, and departed to cultivate and evolve.
  • Julian gave Herbert a Beast King’s Horn and an Artificial Mythical Zoan Dragon Fruit, which Herbert ate.
  • The Beast King’s Blessing fused with the Dragon Fruit, and Herbert transformed into a pink Azure Dragon with Kirin Lion horns.

Ch. 172The Second Dual Devil Fruit User

Herbert adapted to the Dragon Fruit and showed off his dragon form as Julian prepared to take the Flame Dragon Kingdom home and build a Sky Island base. Meanwhile, the Gorosei ordered CP0 to find and destroy Monkey D Dragon's Freedom Army.

  • Herbert used Hurricane Power in dragon form, soaring through the sky as Julian and the others celebrated his new power.
  • Julian decided the group would sail home, explaining that they needed to stay low-profile and establish a rear base to avoid drawing the Gorosei's suspicion.
  • At Marie Geoise, Saint Saturn told the Gorosei that Monkey D Dragon's Freedom Army had taken Roger's bloodline and appeared to be crossing the Calm Belt.
  • The Gorosei agreed to eliminate the Freedom Army and ordered CP0 to search for its headquarters.

Ch. 173Unexpected Incident

Dragon and the Revolutionary Army evaded a large pursuit by Marines and CP0 agents, while Kuma collapsed after absorbing the pregnant women’s suffering. Ginny stayed by Kuma as he endured nightmares about his past.

  • Talilun warned Dragon that Marines and CP0 agents were tracking the fleet, so Dragon destroyed the pursuing ships while the fleet changed course.
  • Kuma treated pregnant women’s seasickness with his Paw-Paw Fruit, then absorbed their negative emotions and collapsed unconscious.
  • Ginny, Dragon, and Talilun arranged for doctors to examine Kuma, who was found to have accumulated hidden injuries and was told to rest.
  • Talilun praised Julian to Dragon and the others, and Dragon added Julian’s words about unity and helping others to his notebook.
  • Ginny cared for Kuma as he suffered nightmares about his deceased parents and his enslavement by the Celestial Dragons, promising to stay by his side.

Ch. 174Fujitora Issho

As mass migration to the Flame Dragon Kingdom continued, Dragon One and Passat welcomed Issho and more than three thousand starving refugees from Hunger Island. After hearing how King Ikaros II had abandoned his polluted, famine-stricken kingdom, Issho agreed to stay and see the Flame Dragon Kingdom for himself.

  • More than fifty thousand people immigrated to the Flame Dragon Kingdom in a month, fleeing hardship and the Heavenly Gold.
  • Dragon One and Passat intercepted Issho's ship near Jaya Island and learned that he had brought refugees from Hunger Island.
  • Dragon One's squad shared its food with the refugees, including the many children, and promised they would receive meals and support.
  • Issho explained that King Ikaros II had polluted Ikardi Island while producing weapons, then fled with the nobles and took all the food and ships, leaving civilians to starve and prey on one another.
  • Dragon One and Passat promised to shelter the refugees and care for the orphans, while Issho revealed that he had blinded himself after witnessing the world's tragedies.
  • After learning the Flame Emperor had gone to Loguetown, Issho accepted Dragon One's invitation to stay in the Flame Dragon Kingdom and see what kind of country it was.

Ch. 175Issho Joins Jaya Island

Issho settled into life in the Flame Dragon Kingdom, helping its security brigade while visiting Stussy’s orphanage. Julian recovered the Flame-Flame Fruit and Smooth-Smooth Fruit, then reassured his division captains after admitting his frustration that Mihawk had rejected his invitation.

  • Stussy cared for the Hunger Island orphans at the Flame Dragon Orphanage, where Mayor Pablo supplied funding, staff, food, and toys.
  • Issho visited the orphans daily and volunteered to join Benuo’s security brigade to help protect the city.
  • Julian found the Flame-Flame Fruit on a deserted island and considered how its powers could be developed.
  • Herbert discovered the Smooth-Smooth Fruit and brought it to Julian, who celebrated its defensive potential.
  • Julian complained that Mihawk had refused to join his faction, then told his division captains that they were his family and promised they would build their own power together.

Ch. 176In Loguetown

In Loguetown, Julian forced the local gangsters to disband and treated Menas to a lavish meal and shopping trip. In the South Blue, Dragon faced Sakazuki’s Marines while the recovered Kuma agreed to marry Ginny, and Talilun offered to pay for their wedding.

  • Julian used Conqueror's Haki to frighten the Loguetown gangsters into promising to reform and disband.
  • Julian booked Loguetown's largest hotels, then took Menas to dinner and bought her clothes and a sapphire necklace.
  • Dragon spotted Marine Vice Admiral Sakazuki's warships approaching his group in the South Blue.
  • Kuma told Ginny about his fears, and Ginny reassured him before he agreed to marry her.
  • Talilun offered Kuma and Ginny two hundred million Berries for their wedding, while Ivankov brought food and Talilun arranged a medical examination for Kuma.

Ch. 177Akainu's Assault

Dragon and the Freedom Army fleet fought Akainu’s Marine forces as they protected civilians from his Meteor Volcano attack. Dragon destroyed the Marine warships, and Gatlin and Reg struck Akainu into the sea before returning to their fleet.

  • Dragon ordered the fleet to defend the civilians, and Talilun, the Fish-Men, the Giant warriors, and the Dragon Guards took positions against the Marines.
  • Akainu killed a Marine who objected to attacking civilians, then launched Meteor Volcano at the fleet.
  • Talilun’s forces combined their attacks to repel most of the magma, but two civilian ships were destroyed, prompting Brahms to send Fish-Men to rescue survivors.
  • Dragon unleashed Storm Arrow and smashed the Marine warships apart as Akainu tried to escape across the sea.
  • Gatlin and Reg struck Akainu with Hakoku, sending him flying toward the water, then returned to their giant warship without attacking the surviving Marines.

Ch. 178Taking Stock of Personnel

Dragon and the Freedom Army led the survivors of Patrila Island toward the Calm Belt after Sakazuki’s attack, while more Marines from the island joined them. Meanwhile, Onigumo reported the failed mission to Sengoku, but Gilmi delayed sending help and continued drinking with his Marines.

  • Brahms reported that Sakazuki’s attack had killed more than five hundred civilians and injured thousands, while Kuma and Enzuo Ou comforted the survivors and many pledged to join the Freedom Army.
  • Dragon warned the civilians that revolution demanded sacrifices, then welcomed Lucas and the Marines from Patrila Island after they joined the fleet and found their families safe.
  • Lucas reunited with his parents, wife, and son, and he and other Marines vowed to leave the Marines and join the Freedom Army to avenge their families.
  • Onigumo reported to Sengoku that Sakazuki was gravely injured, the ships had been destroyed, and the CP0 agents were dead.
  • Sengoku ordered Gilmi to rescue the stranded Marines, but Gilmi refused to leave his base until his ships were repaired and continued drinking with his officers.

Ch. 179Kingdom of Morgan

Julian returned to the Grand Line aboard the Flame Dragon, gathered civilians hoping to immigrate to his kingdom, and reached the Kingdom of Morgan to buy Devil Fruits and establish trade. King Monka agreed to sell four fruits for five billion Berries and cooperate with Julian, while Julian also offered help against pirates.

  • Herbert controlled the weather as the Flame Dragon sailed through Reverse Mountain, and Julian took aboard civilians heading for the Flame Dragon Kingdom.
  • Julian collected more than two thousand prospective immigrants and decided to buy ships in the Kingdom of Morgan to carry them.
  • King Monka complained about pirate attacks and the cowardly, greedy Marine Lieutenant Colonel Tiramia, who tried to flee when the Flame Dragon approached.

Ch. 180Trading for the Woods-Woods Fruit

Julian obtained four Devil Fruits from King Monka, including the Woods-Woods Fruit, and arranged to seek out more in the Kingdom of Morgan. After leaving the palace, he planned to investigate local nobles for Devil Fruits and considered future plans involving the Rubber-Rubber Fruit, the Ope-Ope Fruit, and victims of Lead Poisoning.

  • Julian recognized the Woods-Woods Fruit among King Monka’s four Devil Fruits, took them, and asked to purchase any others in the kingdom.
  • King Monka said the royal family had already collected the island’s known Devil Fruits, then hosted Julian and Herbert at a banquet.
