Background / History

Origins and Hatching

Ji Kun’s parents sealed his bloodline and memories before leaving him in the Nine Provinces Domain during the Deterioration Era. Their purpose was to protect him and preserve a chance of survival for the Sky Swallowing Chicken lineage. He hatched in the Sea Domain Archipelago on the same day that Li Qingyuan established his foundation, beginning their long companionship 1370.

His origins were initially unknown even to himself. Li Qingyuan recognized that his innate strength, unusual eggshell, and seven-colored power were extraordinary, but could not identify his race. Successive breakthroughs gradually restored Ji Kun’s memories, eventually revealing him as the Mao Day Star Lord’s direct son, the Sun Star Lord’s direct grandson, and the clan’s sole direct bloodline 172 265 1037.

Early Travels and the Chi Yun Conflict

Li Qingyuan raised Ji Kun with large quantities of high-quality pills and took him hunting in the Sky Yin Mountain Range. Together, they killed three Second-tier Late Stage Great Demons and obtained Foundation Establishment Spirit Items 174 185.

Their early travels brought Ji Kun into conflict with True Person Chi Yun, who sought to claim him and his treasures. Although only a Second-tier Late Stage beast, Ji Kun escaped Chi Yun’s refining furnace with the Primordial Cone. He was eventually severely injured and restrained by Chi Yun’s servants, forcing Li Qingyuan to intervene and save him 215 216 217.

Recognition as a Sky Swallowing Chicken

Ji Kun’s bloodline became identifiable during the encounter with the Scorpion King. The scorpion’s inherited terror exposed Ji Kun as its natural nemesis, a Sky Swallowing Chicken. When a Nascent Soul Elder activated a killing array, Ji Kun committed his eggshell and essence blood to a primordial defensive array, protecting Li Qingyuan and the surviving cultivators 280 283.

Much later, meeting the Golden Plume Divine Chicken restored memories of the Golden Plume and Silver Feather Immortal Chickens’ service to his clan. Ji Kun prevented the Golden Plume Divine Chicken from attacking Li Qingyuan and secured the allegiance of Golden Plume, Spirit Magpie, and White Crane 825 826.

Dong Jun and the Golden Crow Clan

Ji Kun first fought Dong Jun over the Crimson Crow Geng Metal. Despite being at Integrated Body Early Stage, he fought the Middle Stage Golden Crow princess to a draw. Their rivalry developed into affection, and they subsequently combined their solar powers against the Centaur clan’s Great Elder 845 846 848 852.

After ten thousand years apart, they reunited, but Dong Jun’s grandfather Jin Hong rejected a marriage alliance and attacked Ji Kun. Li Qingyuan and Miao Le intervened to protect him. Ji Kun later declared that he would marry no one but Dong Jun, and Li Qingyuan promised to support their marriage 1109 1111.

A delegation of powerful allies accompanied Ji Kun’s formal marriage proposal. Jin Hong reluctantly accepted, subject to conditions that included assisting Dong Jun’s birth clan when summoned and allowing at least one exceptionally talented future child to cultivate among the Golden Crows. Ji Kun and Dong Jun subsequently appeared together as a married pair 1125 1157.

Separation, Jin Taiyan, and Heavenly Immortality

The Golden Immortal Nishang later took Dong Jun away. Their prolonged separation drove Ji Kun to cultivate relentlessly. When they met at Heavenly Champion’s tomb, Nishang placed an unbreakable barrier between them; Li Qingyuan stopped Ji Kun from launching a suicidal attack against her 1370 1379.

Ji Kun subsequently killed the Quasi-Heavenly Immortal Jin Taiyan, tearing away his wings and devouring his Golden Crow True Spirit to refine his own bloodline and Sun Origin. Dong Jun thereafter remained inside the Mysterious Feminine Space to avoid Nishang’s restrictions 1386 1387.

Ji Kun connected with the Sun Star’s orbit and later became a Heavenly Immortal. Hostility with the Golden Crows continued: at Wood God Hall, Jin Guang demanded Dong Jun’s surrender and also sought to devour Ji Kun for his pure Sun Origin 1390 1405 1427.

Personality

Ji Kun is vain, expressive, and proud of his appearance. He admires his center-part hairstyle, objects when Diana disturbs it, and credits Li Qingyuan personally for styling it. Even when facing death during Chi Yun’s pursuit, he laments that someone so handsome might perish 183 216 1076.

His appetite is central to both his personality and cultivation. Early on, he insists on top-quality pills but accepts almost any variety meeting that standard. At higher realms, he eats seventh-tier pills like candy and eagerly pursues insects as food 185 913 964.

Despite his bravado, Ji Kun learns Li Qingyuan’s preference for caution. At Peak Second-tier, he refuses a rushed Core Formation attempt with only a sixty-percent success rate, preferring an eighty- or ninety-percent chance and a flawless foundation. That caution does not prevent him from committing precious bloodline resources when Li Qingyuan is in danger 224 280 283.

His affection for Dong Jun becomes unwavering devotion. Although his early courtship includes boasting and teasing, he later insists that she is the only person he loves. Repeated interference by the Golden Crow clan turns his frustration into determined cultivation, though Li Qingyuan remains able to restrain his most dangerous impulses 846 1111 1370 1379.
