Chen Yuan serves as the Sect Master of Shushan Holy Land, though the Seven Great Peaks retain substantial autonomy under their respective Helmsmen. When he sought to appoint Chen Changqing as the eleventh Sequence Holy Son, the decision drew the direct intervention of all seven Helmsmen, each a Tribulation Crossing expert comparable to Chen Yuan himself 122.

He accepted Chen Changqing as his Gatekeeping Disciple and elevated him into the Sect Master's lineage. Chen Yuan initially found Changqing's seemingly idle habits perplexing, only to witness him abruptly form nine Golden Cores after more than a year of apparent inactivity 119. When Chen Changqing failed to exit the Qiankun Secret Realm, Chen Yuan's aura erupted across Shushan after True Person Li Yuan came to report the incident.
