After the holiday ended, Yichen returned to Team 18, expecting they would immediately head out on another mission as before. To his surprise, Captain Purple Lightning told everyone that the next month would be devoted to internal training.
It turned out that everyone had received rewards from an S-rank mission and gained quite a lot. They had all exchanged for things they had wanted for a long time but previously could not afford.
Their strength had improved, but turning those improvements into actual combat power in a short time required a period of constant adjustment.
That was why this training session had been arranged.
This was a good thing for Yichen. It gave him time to sort through what he had learned recently and, while he was at it, learn the remaining Ninjutsu.
In truth, the smooth progress of his Yin Release Ninjutsu training had given Yichen new thoughts about the direction he should take.
Perhaps he could focus on Yin Release in the future rather than Water Release or Earth Release.
But Yichen was somewhat hesitant. For one, Iwagakure had too little Yin Release inheritance. If he chose this path, he might have to hack through the thorns and forge a new road himself.
Second, it would mean that much of his previous effort had gone to waste, especially Water Style: Water Pressure Line Jutsu. Yichen had settled on that path years ago, treating it as a foundational Ninjutsu like Naruto's Rasengan or Sasuke's Chidori.
Yichen did not want to give it up so easily.
But if he trained both at once, Yichen felt he did not have the energy for it, especially when both paths needed to be pioneered by himself.
