Li Yao snapped out of his reverie, then decided that "Tower Spirit" really did not sound right. "Don't keep calling me the Lord of the Ring Tower. Call me Boss."

The Tower Spirit readily complied. "Yes, Boss."

Li Yao asked, "What did you need me for?"

The Tower Spirit replied, "Boss, would you like to activate the Ring Tower's internal and external defense mechanisms?"

Li Yao said, "Oh, right. We should activate the defense mechanisms."

As soon as Li Yao finished speaking,

a great deal of spiritual radiance began flashing around the entire Ring Tower.

It was nearly evening at the Shelter Base. The Ring Tower floated in the sky, and it was both enormous and high enough that, when all its defense mechanisms activated, everyone in the residential district noticed the commotion around it.
