Background / History
The Xiao Clan was once one of the Eight Ancient Clans. Its ancestor, Xiao Xuan, rose to become a peak Dou Sheng, but his fall and the exhaustion of the clan's Emperor Dou Bloodline left the clan unable to maintain its independent space in the Tianmu Mountain Range. The surviving branch withdrew from the Central Continent and eventually declined into a Wutan City family. 440 441 501
Its surviving members initially knew little of this history. Xiao Han publicly revealed the clan's Ancient Clan heritage, Emperor Dou Bloodline, and connection to Xiao Xuan during the crisis with the Gale Family. The normally hidden Pantry Elder corroborated that the clan preserved secrets unknown to its ordinary elders and disciples. 150 151
The clan's revival began with Xiao Han's rise. He strengthened its members, challenged restrictive access to cultivation techniques, exposed the inadequacy of its inherited resources, and introduced the Shadow Clone Technique as a means of accelerating cultivation. 137 144 151
Organization
Leadership
- Xiao Zhan — Clan Head during the Wutan City period. He held the Fragment of Tuoshe Ancient Jade and the Rusted Iron Sword before entrusting both to Xiao Han. 155
- Xiao Ding Tian — Third Elder, Xiao Han's grandfather, and later acting Clan Leader after Xiao Zhan aligned himself with Xiao Yan. 515
- Xiao Han — Publicly recognized as Vice Patriarch during the Wutan City period; later became the clan's central authority, though he declined to personally resume the Clan Leader position. 158 515 773
- Xiao Xuan — Ancient ancestor and former clan leader; after being revived, he became Grand Elder, ranking above the Clan Leader. 505 515
- Pantry Elder — A concealed Dou Ling expert whose status and cultivation exceeded Xiao Zhan and the Three Great Elders. 123 145
Internal Structure
- The clan was originally governed by the Clan Head and the Three Great Elders. 3 6
- Its branches developed competing interests, particularly around Xiao Han and Xiao Yan. The First and Second Elders increasingly supported Xiao Han because of his potential, the Chen Clan's allegiance, and the ties of Xiao Ning and Xiao Mei. 127
- Juniors who failed the preliminary assessment were assigned to clan businesses; those reaching the required standard could enter the Dou Qi Pavilion after their coming-of-age ceremony. 119
- The clan later enforced a strict secrecy order concerning the Water of Life, Battle Qi Water, antidotes, and related techniques. Violators faced expulsion. 158
Inherited Assets
- Fragment of Tuoshe Ancient Jade — A clan heirloom and one of the eight keys to Tou She Ancient God's cave mansion. It was held by the Clan Head and transferred to Xiao Han. 155 468
- Rusted Iron Sword — An ancient clan token forged from unknown metal. It is indestructible, can withstand Heavenly Flames, and was left by the clan's ancestor with an instruction that every Clan Head protect it at the cost of their life. 155 507
- Candle Dragon Sword — A Mysterious Tier Upper Grade inherited sword. 22
- Raging Lion's Fury — A Mysterious Tier Intermediate fighting skill originally restricted to elders and the Clan Head. 22
- Shadow Clone Technique — A battle technique that creates physical clones capable of acting, fighting, and returning their memories and cultivation experience to the original body. It effectively doubles cultivation efficiency. 151
- Water of Life, Battle Qi Water, and Detoxifying Agents — Medicinal products used to reverse the Gale Family's commercial offensive and later coveted by outside forces. 155 201
- Flying Sky Divine Tiger — Accepted service as the clan's guardian divine beast in exchange for a Shape-Shifting Pill. 234
Major Arcs
Wutan City Era
The Xiao Clan faced pressure from the Misty Cloud Sect during Nalan Yanran's attempt to dissolve her engagement with Xiao Yan. The clan ultimately yielded because of the sect's superior power and the value of the Qi Gathering Powder offered as compensation. 6
At the coming-of-age ceremony, the clan revealed several unusually gifted juniors, including Xiao Han, Xiao Yan, Xiao Xun'er, and Xiao Mei. Their rapid development drew outside attention and altered the internal balance of power. 127 128
Xiao Han later forced open the barriers in the Dou Qi Pavilion, allowing ordinary disciples to choose cultivation techniques rather than remain blocked by the established system. 144
Gale Family Crisis
The Gale Family's First-grade Alchemist caused the Xiao Clan's market traffic and income to collapse, threatening it with financial ruin. The clan considered war alongside the Ouba Family, but Xiao Han instead supplied medicinal products and used a pricing strategy to undermine the Gale Family. 148 149 155 160
After the Gale Family was destroyed, Xiao Zhan publicly accepted responsibility for the outcome. The Xiao Clan emerged as the victor of Wutan City's economic conflict. 164
Imperial Threat and Rise of Huaxia
During Xiao Han's absence, the Xiao Clan was pressured by forces connected to the Gamma Empire to surrender the Water of Life, Battle Qi Water, and Shadow Clone Technique. Clan members were injured, marketplaces were disrupted, and disciples became afraid to leave the estate. 201 202
Xiao Han returned and destroyed Pharmacist Qin's force, preventing the clan's annihilation. He then retaliated against the Gamma Royal Family, replaced its sovereign, and made the clan a foundational force within the resulting Huaxia Empire. 203 235 236 242
Restoration of Ancient Status
On the Central Continent, Xiao Han used his strength to make nearby factions affiliated with the Xiao Clan, claimed the Heavenly Mountain Blood Pool, and announced that the clan had risen again. 450
Xiao Han and Gu Xun'er later met Xiao Xuan in the Heavenly Tomb. Xiao Xuan learned that the remnant Xiao Clan had unified the Eastern Region and reclaimed much of its historical influence through the Huaxia Empire. 505
Xiao Han eventually restored Xiao Xuan and the Emperor Dou Bloodline, producing a major collective increase in the clan's cultivation and securing its position as a continental power. 511 561
Revenge Alliance War
When Xiao Yan led the Revenge Alliance against the Huaxia Empire and Xiao Clan, Xiao Zhan and Xiao Li attempted to protect the clan despite their ties to him. Both were killed by Xiao Yan. 761
Xiao Xuan remained with the clan's defenders, while an unknown force annihilated every Revenge Alliance cultivator above the Dou Wang realm in a single attack. 760 761
